What’s the scoop on Ruffinos? It never gets mentioned in any threads about Lafayette restaurants

If I'm eating Italian in the general area of Ruffino's, I'm going to Marcello's.

Nobody goes there, It's always too crowded!
Seriously, I had a couple of "meh" experiences there, but every time I pass, Its packed!

If someone was headed to Lafayette for the first time and asked me where to go to get a local food experience, I'd probably send them to Bon Temps.

I have been to vestal twice and just can't love it. Food was ok, but it was like eating in tiger stadium. It is so loud that if you are trying to visit it is tough.

I like the lively atmosphere, but I definitely get that there are people who don’t enjoy that.

Lamb chops on top a bed of shrimp alfredo and an old fashioned at Poseidon’s.

Yep. One of my favorite places to enjoy food, fun and friends (the racoons on the way out)

Cajun - even in Lafayette, the term “Cajun food” has become commercialized on restaurant menus targeting tourists. If you want Cajun food that was served as family meals decades ago, it’s hard to beat Dwyers or Poche Bridge (Breaux Bridge) … both serve a variety of outstanding plate lunch meals.

One of the best plate lunches in the area. Never had a bad meal there. Poches is my go-to when in the area!

Charley G’s
They have a salmon dish that is as good as anything I have ever tasted.
Their gumbo has to be number one.
Lafayette has few great restaurants but as a whole, mediocre food.
I much prefer New Orleans or Baton Rouge.

I went last night because I had a gift card. It was very “meh” but packed!
