I would suggest next time to cook hers med well, let her call it medium and both of you enjoy your meal

Yeah I should probably stop arguing with her about it. She cooks most of my meals

She told me I tried to serve her raw steak.
How do you live? I’ve learned that common preferences in diet assist an already healthy relationship quite well. Seriously, I think it’s a big deal.

Also that just a touch below medium IMO

We've been married for 13 years and lived together for 15. We mostly like the same foods. Our steak preferences obviously aren't the same though

What do you mean? They need to like the same foods?

My wife would call that one overcooked.

Looks just about perfect to me.

Medium. Medium rare would be more red than pink. There is no such thing as medium rare plus or medium plus. Ask any real steak house.

So there's only 5 states of doneness for an over 60 degree range of temperatures?

Let them sit for a bit longer, it will keep all the red juice inside the steak and firms up the center a little more to keep the wife happy.

Medium rare generally has a tint of uncooked. That's barely medium.

Is the general consensus not:

Looks to be just a touch less than medium. Maybe. It is in no way rare though. You were not trying to kill her with raw steak.

You should try cleaning some of that rust off your grill.

I bet 99% of people who use the term "medium rare plus" or "rare plus" got it from a server at a high end steakhouse

I have no idea how a kitchen treats it, but those terms are way more in use at "real" steakhouses than shitty ones
