The two that I recommend are the following:

-Cautionary: Fed Up - I know some dislike it, because it sort of takes the onus off the individual and puts it on the government/businesses/agencies/etc, but I do think the demonization of fat vs sugar is mindboggling. So many people still don't understand how sugar is astronomically worse for you, especially from non-natural sources.

-Food Porn: Jiro Dreams of Sushi - I've watched this probably 2-3 times, and it's still breathtaking. Eating at his restaurant is one of those life dreams I know I will almost certainly not achieve, but I can't even imagine how incredible it would be. I also found it so incredibly interesting all the dynamics of the Japanese household and devotion to craft as well as Jiro's relationship and trust with his suppliers.

One part of this movie I did get to experience when I visited Japan was I woke-up at about 4:30 and went to the tuna market that they showed. It was incredible watching how everything is done, and then some of the guys take their catch right there on the spot and filet it up for the freshest sashimi you could ever imagine. It was unbelievable. I'm horrified by the time I make it back the tuna ban will almost certainly be in full effect .

Working 24 Hours at the Best BBQ at Franklin Barbecue
quote:

Bon Appetit deputy editor Andrew Knowlton spends 24 hours at Franklin Barbecue starting out at 6:00 am and meeting fans of the restaurant who have been waiting since 4:00 am to be the first in line. He spends the rest of the day learning how they barbecue meat so delicious the brisket has sold out every day since Franklin's opened.

Chef's Table is pretty mesmerizing if you are really into food and appreciate it as an art form.

-Francis Mallman
-Grant Achatz
-Alex Atala
-Niki Nakayama

are all particularly interesting and well done for my tastes.

I enjoyed Steak Revolution as well. It talks and explores the farm to table aspect of high quality cuts of beef.

Great show. Some episodes are more engaging than others, but overall fantastic. The ones you mentioned are definitely highlights. I'm trying to go to Pujol in Mexico City over the New Year's holiday but my chances of getting in are slim to none.

it's incredible when I went it we were able to get there at like 10:30 and it wasn't a problem. This was 7 years ago.

That video confirmed all my suspensions of how much it would suck to own a good BBQ joint.

"The McRib Song (McRib Blues)"
quote:

On 24/11/2015 I spoke to the Santa Clarita City Council to help me bring back the McRib. It received mild media attention but not enough to influence any of the 10 restaurants in SCV to answer my plight.

My fellow McRibians: please help get the word out to McDonald's. Will the power of song finally propel them to bring back our McRib? We can only try. Here is "McRib Blues," I hope you enjoy.

LYRICS:
In 1982, a boneless bbq pork sandwich was introduced
america fell hard for that sauce we all adore
mcdonalds must you give, then take away?

every thanksgiving my family orders
50 pc mcnuggets, and 10 Mcribs
but this year mcdonald’s chose to rob us of tradition
and left us with broken hearts

CHORUS
we’ve got mcrib blues
and we’ll do what it takes to
bring back on the menu
cause we have a right to eat what we like
mcrib is worth the fight

i pleaded to the city council
only to be met with dismissal
and to those who question my motives, have you ever stood up for yourself?
people are so quick to criticize behind machines
you could a little empathy
and a mcrib sandwich on me

mcriblocator.com should not be the end-all
germany serves it all year round
america should follow suit, to raise our nation’s morale
especially in this town

i’ve got mcrib blues
and i ask you to join me in tribute
to sing along in protest, to bring back our sandwich
'cause we've got mcrib blues

LINK ]Jersey Diners
quote:

New Jersey is the Diner Capital of the U.S.

In the state of New Jersey, diners are more than just a place to grab a breakfast sandwich or a late night cup of coffee. Often the center of the community, diners built in the 1920's are still beloved by their guests despite modern restaurants filling up Main Street. Zagat editor Billy Lyons visited three diners in the Garden State to find out why this style of dining and cuisine continues to thrive - not to mention investigate a fun food debate.
So what do YOU say -- Pork Roll or Taylor Ham?
