Better way to have phrased it would have been something like
"what are the chains that people on the F&DB board usually think are good," but I think everyone understood what he was asking.
Guess people missed the humor in my question. Sounded like one of those silly "I need the approval of the OT to make my every move" threads.

Long John Silver's or Captain D's?

Oh, I've been to the one in Buckhead. One in Gwinnett would be awesome, but I'm good regardless. I'm just saying that if I still lived where there wasn't one (like Baton Rouge) and I found out they were opening one, I would be excited.

Today...
Ruth's Chris
Pizza Uno
Boston Market
Bonefish
Ruffino's
J Alexander's
A&W drive ins where you would get their root beer in a frosty glass mug and your choice of a baby, mamma or pappa sized hamburger, all placed on your car window with a tray.
Howard Johnson's on Wed or Friday for all you can eat clam strips. I'd finish with coffee ice cream.
Arby's. Yup, for those too young to remember, Arby's used to be really good back in the day. It was an actual honest to goodness roast beast sandwich.

Here are the ones I officially approve of:
Popeyes - only its great food can overcome such lousy and consistently lousy service
Canes
Chick-fil-A - the gold std of fast-food service and good food, sweet tea, or shakes.
Pappadeaux's - pretty good all around.
Carrabbas - still good but wished they'd bring back their crab cakes and grilled, breaded trout dish. Still have 3-4 things on the menu that are worthwhile.
Rudy's - ok, most of their BBQ isn't great but their brisket is very good for what can be found in a chain.
Zea - just wished they'd serve some kind of bread with their dinners.
Cracker Barrel - fried catfish, some veggies, mac-n-cheese, biscuits, sweet tea, and I'm good.
Copeland's - shrimp & tasso pasta is a fantastic dish. They also do good on grilled fish. (disclaimer: I've only eaten at the Slidell and Houma restaurants)

I'll get some hate for this but Chili's is pretty decent given its size

I've heard good things about this. I know it started at TAMU College station.
All the aggies here love it. There is one in town I'll have to try one night.

Nice article about Hillstone (Houston's, R&D Kitchen, etc.) High praise from some big food names.

Welcome to Hillstone, America's Favorite Restaurant
It’s never going to win a James Beard Award. Or try to wow you with its foam experiments or ingredients you’ve never heard of. But it is the best-run, most-loved, relentlessly respected restaurant in America. And, oh yeah, Danny Meyer, David Chang, and Shaq all agree. Welcome to Hillstone.
