Just picking on things in the fridge while we prep for tomorrow.

So here’s a random question. I searched old threads for chicken stew and have some simmering now.. but it’s exactly what I do for gumbo Only thing is no sausage but I ended up doing a small amount so it’s basically gumbo with a less dark roux.

Oh. I didn’t ask a question. I guess my question is what’s the difference?

I’ve had this debate on this board. I got tore up talking about gumbo/stew/fricassee. What I took from it was: make gravy, eat it, and don’t post about it.

I have no plans to serve gumbo so I went way off scrip and added canned tomatoes/basil/garlic from my parents’ garden and will reduce it down to a lot less liquid than gumbo. Then add the browned chicken and let it simmer down.

Might even add carrots and green beans.

Sacrilege I’m sure.

My chicken stew is almost the same as my gumbo. I usually make the roux lighter and may add cream of chicken to make it thicker and to add more chicken flavor.

Definitely a three piece dark spicy from Popeyes drive thru.
I know I’ll get an extra 20 minutes or so.
