I like Courtyard, however in June/July/August I have to get in early and out... too hot for the middle of the day. I wish they had some cooling fans

You notice I always meet in the mornings

Surprised 40 Arpent is closing, the Paw Paw on FB pimps them a good bit

Good plan!

Me too, with 40 but looks like there was no other path.

Anyone know if they have a crowler? 504 could use one.

Maybe if some of the smaller breweries could take their individual pretty good beers and put them together, they could get a line of pretty good beers together.

A Louisiana Brewing Co-Op would be pretty cool if it could be done right. Pretty much have a few brewers that are specialists in a style or have each brewer make their best product.

The passive aggressive FB/instagram/twitter rants that would result from this would be worth it, IMO

I suspect Chafunkta could be next. They seem pretty desperate lately.

About time.

Has anything else gone down in this state besides Chappapeela Farms and 40 Arpent?

You guys know you can bring your own lawn chairs to Courtyard if you want? Who doesn't have a couple fold out chairs in the garage that you can throw in the trunk right quick? Unless you're taking an Uber.

I liked the New Basin Stout actually. Will miss that one.

They should go based on name alone.

Someone tell me how much is a good number to start a brewery like 40 Arpent.

Real Estate, equipment, inventory, insurance, payroll, taxes, cash on hand etc...

I know there are plenty of variables...location etc...but generally speaking. Half a million a decent starting number to get a couple beers out? More?

I have no idea what the brewing equipment costs or even what type is needed.

And obviously if you are leasing space do so at your own risk, as in this guy.

I'm not sure I would put that one in the same category as the others.

It's not a knock against them... I just don't feel like Urban South has experienced the wide success, along multiple products, that the others have.

Maybe they will get there at some point.

I think you have to go bigger than that. I think one of the problems was they started too small and never got up to size, enough to do a lot of production.

Also, they didn't advertise nearly, nearly enough. Beer snobs like us knew who they were. But look at their advertising compared to, say, Port Orleans.
