Also, they didn't advertise nearly, nearly enough. Beer snobs like us knew who they were. But look at their advertising compared to, say, Port Orleans.
That was the problem. 40 Arpent didn't have a Saints offensive lineman as a co-owner.

I think you have to go bigger than that. I think one of the problems was they started too small and never got up to size, enough to do a lot of production.

US is well funded, has a huge presence in NO, and has just expanded to Lafayette and putting out kick arse beer. Second favorite place for me outside of Courtyard.

I'm with ya t00f. Every time I've been there (with the exception of a day with bad thunderstorms) it was pretty packed as well.

Urban South also has a MUCH better location than 40 Arpent.
As many times as I've been to NOLA and hit up a brewery or two before a concert or other event, I never went out of my way to 40 Arpent.
However, if they were brewing great beer I probably would have.
So, a great location can make up for mediocre beer, and vice versa, but you can't make it with a bad location and unexciting beer.

I just don't feel like Urban South has experienced the wide success, along multiple products, that the others have
Maybe Urban South hasn't experienced the success in distribution that others have (its very rare I see it on the shelf in my area)but imo they have one of the best lines top to bottom in the state.
Except for Charming Wit. That one sucks.
If I have a choice, I'm grabbing a Modillion above anything else made in La.

Yep, I was surprised when I saw Coop'd Up at Whole Foods the other day. They also had a keg of their Lime Cucumber Gose

Have not heard about this.

I think the lesson is, if you're going to be a small niche sized, you have to offer at least a somewhat special niche type product. Their beer was mostly decent, but they failed at creating a special niche that people would be willing to go out of their way to get their hands on.
Courtyard has figured this out. I think maybe Parleaux is trying.

Which Saints OL co-owns which brewery?

Strief is one of the investors in Port Orleans.

Agree on Urban South. One of my top choices. Heading now to pick up some DDH Holy Roller and some Cabana Boy if they still have it.

Last time I was at Courtyard the owner said they were working on a new location and distributing their beer but it was going to take a while. Personally I think they brew the best beer in the city and it's not close. Like someone mentioned, I would love for them to take over Second Line's location.

So the Port Orleans model?
Posted on 9/15/17 at 5:03 pm to LSUrme
Was thinking more like the Brieux Carre' model.
I honestly don't know much about Port Orleans yet other than they had Strief backing it and apparently their beer sucks.

This is true, I'm probably barely in the middle of the beer snob scale, especially compared to my friends. I could only name one 40 Arpent beer by name, every other local brewery that distributes I can name at least 3 beers.
