My wife and I went to Umami last night and had a great meal. The tuna blossom was amazing as was the Taste of Japan. We also got several rolls which were perfect. I had a sake flight for the first time in my life which was a lot of fun. TVs were all on LSU and we had a great time cheering with the chefs. Bad outcome but incredible food!

One of our favorites too. Survived a change in ownership without any detrimental effects.

Its funny that you mention the change in ownership. Ive been going there since it opened as Hello Sushi. Then I started talking to Cong and he would make random rolls for me and my wife. On Saturday, I went talk to the head chef at the end of our meal and he said Cong is in Houston and a part owner of Nori Nori.

The menu is a bit more diverse now and they have more rare/ expensive fishes, but the quality is as high as its ever been.

It's deceptively good. Like, you walk in and it looks like any other basic strip-mall sushi place, and then you get served up amazing food. I don't live in BR anymore, but we always try and stop in when we're in town.

I'll be in BR tomorrow for the game, and Umami is our first stop.

Good day to go. They told me their fish deliveries start on Wednesday.

Get the Akami nigiri

I go to the one in Lake Charles when I'm there for work. It's solid food. Didn't know there was more.

That has to just be coincidence in name.

Agreed that this is a very good place. Their charbroiled oysters are unique and delicious! Also the lamb chop lollipops are amazing
