Trillist Best Brewery in Every State

With respect to OG Abita and NOLA Brewing, relative newcomer Great Raft is truly embracing what has become a hallmark of the LA craft beer movement: brewing beers that work well with local food. The most obvious examples of that come from its collab with the Besh Foundation, which has created bottles like the Provisions and Traditions, a dark rye saison loaded with caraway seeds to create a beer reminiscent of pumpernickel, which really sells the idea that some beers are like drinking bread. That Belgian influence continues with beers like the sweetly funky Awkward Uncle strong dark ale, but lest you think this is a brewery beholden to Euro leanings, Great Raft also nails it with its Creature of Habit coffee brown and a killer India pale lager, one of the best beers to drink on a sweltering Louisiana afternoon.

BBA Old Mad Joy except for the damn wax and G&G are monster solid. Rest of their lineup is solid too. Love Commotion.

Think I was mainly surprised mention of Nola and Abita but nothing on Parish which has the best beer in the state in Ghost

I agree, but you never know where they get their data from. May reach out to someone in each state to get a summary and that person may live in North LA.

This is the first "best brewery" list I have seen that I actually mostly agree with.
I do, however, disagree with GR. Parish FTW

While I do think the most recent batch of grace and grit was great, a lot of the batches before that wasn't. Some of the batches I've had of it in the past was just ok.
Both of them have been somewhat inconsistent and have had changes from batch to batch but I think ghost has been consistently better. Let's see great raft consistently put out grace and grit like this most current batch.

Parish Bloom is the best beer in the state and Envie is better than Commotion. So they're better in my unmavenly opinion. I only care about hops though.

Amazingly the article listed all of my least favorite GR beers
And yeah, GR from top to bottom is clearly the best in the state. Parish might do hops better, but that's it.

YMAEWK is outstanding. BBA OMJ has been great. Come What Mayhaw was great. Latest batch of G&G was great. AMT is great.
I might be forgetting a few.
Farmhouse Slang is a beer that I enjoy immensely. I'm not sure of its greatness yet, but I think they are still working on it.

That's kinda a big deal. I can fairly reliably get good beers of other styles from non-local distro.
Also, I'd argue Parish does stouts/dark beers as good or better.

I agree that hops are a big deal.
But if someone told me that I could only buy GR beers for the rest of my life, I'd be cool with that.
I think I'd get bored with Parish in the same scenario.

Have to disagree here even being from Shreveport.
The Reve Stout is hands down the best coffee Stout I've had in my life. Great Raft has better sours but the Flora Genesis proves that Parish could do sours if they wanted.
Although Im not a fan of any of these beers, I would drink a (Strawberry) Canebrake before a Reasonably Corrupt or Southern Drawl as year-round "light" beers.
Also when you brew the best Pale Ale and DIPA in the South, that means a helluva lot.
I love Great Raft and think it should also be mentioned as one of the top breweries in the south also. But Parish gets my vote.

Most of Great Raft's lineup is pretty hop-centric, no?
It's a great brewery and I can appreciate an argument that places it above Parish in the beer pecking order, I'm just not sure what the point with regard to hops is here.

It's nice to even be able to have these conversation but when doing so you have to involve BBA Old Mad Joy. Not saying Parish is not tops though.
And I will say, Opus Vert, prior to this last Ghost was tops for me.
