Well that's in your area, I guess. The Total Wine near me is every bit as good as Central Market when it comes to local options, even better some times. It's better than probably all the Spec's except the big Smith Street location. All the smaller Specs seem to let hoppy beers shelfturd for 6+ months. And it's better than Whole Foods vast majority of the timme.

It's a joke. Not that serious.

Interesting. In terms of local stuff, the central markets in Dallas have a much better selection. There's a specs and total right next to each other off 75 and the specs beer selection is much better overall.

Once again proving why Fort Worth is better than Dallas.

To be fair, Central market is a much bigger thing here so that could be a big part of it. And I think the Smith street specs is the only one bigger than the one by me. Still, Central, total, or specs don't beat craft beer cellar for overall selection and non shelf turding.

I won't die on the beer selection hill as much as the private label and lowering brand value hills.

I fricking love fort worth. The wife and I are still kicking around the idea of moving out there. We stayed out there for a wedding a couple weeks ago and had a great time. Lonesome dove was easily a top 5 meal for me.

Total wine is awesome. We have many here in Atlanta. They always do their best to bring in any specialty items if you request.

I just wish Dallas had a non shitty downtown. It's easily the worst of the big cities in Texas. Houston, Austin, and Fort Worth all have nice, walkable downtowns with restaurants and bars while I find our scene downtown is severely lacking.

yep. I'd rather go to Central than Spec's. Central seems to have a better selection and sells growlers's. They just opened a total wine on mcarthur in irving near our work/daycare so i'll have to pop in and see how it compares.

Can't really speak to this because wine isn't really my thing... but...

The Total Wine here has an exponentially better craft beer selection than any local grocery stores (other than maybe Whole Foods) and certainly way better than any of the local liquor stores.

They're really the only place other than buying to-go from the beer bars which is extremely marked up that has a good craft selection. None of the grocery stores (again, other than Whole Foods) has anything worth a crap.

I also find that Total Wine has the biggest liquor selection around. Some local places come close, but not quite.

You must have the worst TW in the nation. That's unfortunate

This happens at Specs and the employee actually gets money from the sale. They get a book of liquor and wines to make money from each month. (Hint: it's always those ''on sale with key tag" brands that are on sale 365 days a year)
.
.
I've converted to a full time Total Wine shopper over Specs. The game has passed them up

Tried one in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Great wine and beer selection. Whiskey selection not so great.

Do total employees get the same commission? I thought they did, but I'm not 100% sure.

I got no dog in that fight. I haven't bought liquor in forever. If I buy wine though, it's at Central market.

Yeah, you're really not going to get hard to get beers from Total wine just because they are big. At least not from breweries that don't already distribute here.

The beer is either distributed to Louisiana or it isn't. If it isn't, then it's rare a retailer gets that beer outside of specialty drops for specific reasons (aka...beer festival overstock, etc...)

They'll have the best selection in the NOLA area when it's all said and done.

That doesn't mean that they'll get beer that isn't regularly distributed to LA, because tiers and all, but they will have the shelf space and do enough volume to pretty much put anything the distributors carry on the shelves.

And it should all be available in singles... at least they are here.
