Typical English food is heavy, but I do enjoy:
Bangers & mash
Steak and kidney pie
Shepherd's pie
Though I just eat English cuisine for lunch or late night when visiting. They have too many other options for dinner.

British food gets a bad rap but the London restaurant scene is one of the most dynamic and varied in the world. Imagine a lot of the bad press of British food really developed around the period of bad food after WWII with tinned veg, ration cards, “make it easy” etc. There was a lot of bad food trends in the 50s-early 80s.
Britain produces some fantastic ingredients and products Stilton, cask ales, Cheddar, Beef, scones, hell their sparkling wine is pretty damn good. Interesting tidbit the reason so many steakhouses traditionally went for the old English look (wood paneling, prints of foxes on the wall, etc.) was because at the advent of rail car referred beef from the American west, there was a stigma against beef being shipped so far. It’s also why your Golden Corral, western sizzler, Outback embraces those more frontier western tones. That’s painting with a broad brush but you get the gist.

British food is boring but it has a great ethnic food scene in London…..as well as great young chefs…..
