Bringing my dad for a few days to tour the WW2 museum and wanted to know where to eat. Will be staying close to Lafayette Square so I'd like to stay within walking distance. I have heard about Dickie Brennan's before and was considering this.

Desi Vega's is right there

La Boca isn't your typical steakhouse but very good and within walking distance.

La Boca (near WW2 museum) - as said, not traditional, since it's an Argentinian style steakhouse but very good. Try the skirt steak.

There is Ruth's on Fulton, next to Harrahs

I would choose any of the suggestion so far over Dickie Brennan's

Dickie Brennan's is great choice. Last time we were there, full of NFL players pre game meal. Great service and food. Good wine selection.

I'm another vote for Doris Metropolitan.

Mr. Johns is top notch as well, it's a $6 Uber ride there from your location or you can hop on the street car at St. Charles.

My favorite meal is a steakhouse and I have eaten multiple times at all of the ones mentioned. You won't go wrong with any on this list BUT...
the consistently best steak I have found in New Orleans is at Delmonico's.
And this is coming from someone who readily admits that La Boca is my favorite restaurant.

Doris Metropolitan
Mr Johns
La Boca
Ruths
Desi Vega
I would probably put them in that order with La Boca and Mr Johns being interchangeable.

You can wear jeans like most places in New Orleans.

I like all that have been mentioned so far. Just to add to the list, Revolution in the Royal Sonesta is very good.

Don't worry about Dickie Brennan's. It was great.
