Stanley restaurant in New Orleans is closing permanently

10-15 years ago it definitely was when Boswell was the toast of the town. Now, not so much .

Years ago I spent a day with him for a magazine article. It was pretty much the height of his short ascendancy. We went to that race track on the West Bank to look at his race cars (one named Stella one named Stanley), his “paint factory” in mid city where he produced base sauces, stocks, and other staples for each restaurant, Stanley and then back to Stella. It was a wild day and insight into sometimes people can have too many ideas.

Had dinner at Muriel's around 6:00 p.m. a few months ago after I saw Spam a lot. When we got through I looked at Stanley's, and hardly anybody was in there

Going to miss it. You and I met there once. I became very good friends with the owners and staff. I hope Scott, Tonya, and Wes continue to thrive elsewhere!!!

What a tremendous loss for the Quarter. One of the best gumbos in town, Stanley also was consistent with great fried seafood and breakfast items. We were regulars at Stella! so this another blow for us.
