Missing a fried oyster poboy in this list.

Had one last week at Leon’s here in Charleston. Was very good.

I don’t agree with your list but I love sandwiches and love reading about them and all those sandwiches sound great

Also add in a pastrami on rye from a reputable Jewish deli.

A good Italian sub would be on my list and definitely top 5 - Capicola, salami, pepperoni, prosciutto, ham, provolone

What is this, a burger?

And which Whitey's - the NOLA one or the Metairie one?

So what is it?

That pool hall is my old stompin' grounds starting about 40 years ago. The big thing back then was the hot tamales from the attached tamale shop.

Honorable mention is a simple Club sandwich,
Great in the summer time.
Top it with a fresh sliced lemon juice drizzled on the tips with a sprinkle of salt, potato chips with a slice of cold watermelon.

Not too heavy in the heat and always hits the spot.

A Cuban is not a poboy because it's not made with poboy bread. The bread is Cuban bread, which has fat as one of its ingredients. Poboy bread does not have fat in it. That's why it goes stale so fast. Cuban bread has a softer interior and crust and, if I remember right, it is very slightly sweet.

I did not know that about the fat. The Cubans have another sandwich called a medianoche which is served on a challah-like bread that is slightly sweet. To me, standard Cuban bread is not sweet.

A medianoche is basically the same as a Cuban but with that slightly sweeter bread. I have had them with some grape jelly added and no mustard.

The medianoche got its name because it was popular in Cuba as a late night (middle of the night) snack in the night clubs.

Any top 10 sandwich list without a Rueben and Philly Cheesesteak on it is a worthless list to me.

Do'nt care how you rate all of them but there are three sandwiches that should always be there, a Reuben, a Cuban, and a philly cheesesteak.

It's actually a good topic and a good list. I do have to agree with ham and cheese poboy being top-notch.
