My son has his white coat ceremony(subtle brag) this Friday in New Orleans. We are not from N.O. Where would the F&D gurus recommend we go? TIA

I just had a great special meal with my wife at Brigsten's, so I recommend that.

I think Commander's Palace would be fun for your occasion.

Lots if great places to celebrate

Commander's has been said and I have really enjoyed it.

There is also Antoine's (soufflé potatoes are incredible)

I have had Auguste and it is a really fun experience to go to a restaurante like that.

Mr John's has amazing steaks as well.

Lots of great places.

Oh and Congrats

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. We decided to go with August on Friday night and either Commanders or GW Fins on Saturday.

This! The three best places for special occasion meals.

Congrats to your family.

If your Saturday meal will be during the day, Commander's brunch is delicious and very festive!

We went to Mr. John's for my wife's white coat ceremony. Not a bad choice if you are looking for steak.

I would probably choose Commander's, though.

It is.

Not sure I would go there for this type of celebration, though. More of a 1 on 1, romantic celebration type place IMO. Kind of stuffy and reserved, and the menu isn't for everyone.

Id do Galatoire's and Commander's, they are made for what the OP is looking for.
