The small independent restaurants are getting squeezed by the costs of everything. If I were an owner/operator right now, I'd be changing menu prices weekly.

This is when good business practices come into play. Restaurants are a business, it's not just about serving food. There are plenty of small independent restaurants not shutting down.

BBQ was mediocre and the BBQ sauce was disgusting. Good riddance. Much better BBQ elsewhere around town.

It's a shame. Ate there a few times and their food was very good, especially compared to the BBQ scene in Baton Rouge area.
I saw they just did a ton of renovations to their bar area and then shut down. I'm guessing that money could have been saved for restaurant operations.
Still, sucks to see them go.

I hate to see any place fail, but we only went once a couple years ago. That was enough for me to not go back.

Went once about with my two boys. Ordered an appetizer and 3 meals. The only thing that wasn't cold when we got it was things that were fried. Literally, every piece of BBQ meat tasted as if it had been pulled out of the fridge and not even heated up to remove the coldness. Never went back.

Same experience for me, if you’re going to charge premium prices, your food better be extremely good. I drove all the way out there one weekend and my brisket was cold and dry and the sides were mediocre.
If I’m going to spend $15+ on a BBQ plate, I’m going to Oak and Smoke when he’s out and about or Gonzo Smokehouse if I can make it to Luling. The BBQ restaurants that served cheapo food at the $10-12 dollar range before prices went up are going to have a very hard time staying in business if they try to raise their prices to match the artisan spots where the pitmasters are actually skilled and the meat is high grade and properly stored

They closed the doors due to staffing from what Ive heard. Hire people and they would not show up, or would call in daily with reasons for not working that day. There is only so much of that you can handle as a business before you have to fold.

Not according to this board. They claim that the staff shortage at FDL was because FDL wouldn't pay more money.
