My vote for Olde Tyme as well.
Below poster is correct about Chris’s. Get either a special or roast beef with extra gravy, and a cup of gumbo.
I find Chris’s just fries their shrimp weird. I do like their fried catfish poboy, though.

Funny the owners of Olde Tyme and Parkway Bakery and Tavern are husband and wife...she had Olde Tyme ..he Parkway...must be da bread that brought them together.LOL

They put ketchup on their poboys, and their menu doesn't warn you of it.

I think you're tripping on some molded bread .... Olde Tyme has been owned by Glenn since 1982, bought it when he was 23. He is originally from Chalmette, attended USL for college. PB&T is owned by Jay who bought it in 1995. Glenn also owns Sandra's Cafe & Health Food Store on Rena Drive, behind Don's Seafood Hut.

Went to Olde Tyme. Not impressed actually. Had the 6” fried shrimp with fries. First, the fries aren’t fries. They are thick cut, skin on potato wedges which I hate in general. The bread was thin to the point that the sandwich almost fell apart when I picked it up. Shrimp had really good taste though.

Fair enough; I've never been to Domilise's.
I've just had a lot of poboys in a lot of places, including New Orleans, and I've only been served ketchup on them twice. Once at Old Tyme Grocery, and once at the Middle Eastern owned place that used to be on Chimes St.
The Middle Eastern owned place wasn't surprising since.. well, how would they know? But dangit I was so surprised by it when I bit into my poboy at Old Tyme
I guess there's more places that probably do it, but I feel like I almost never run into it.
I love ketchup with fries or burgers, but my brain associates a fried seafood poboy with mayo/lettuce/tomato/pickle.

Anywhere I go I always ask if they put ketchup on the shrimp poboy. If they don’t I ask them to add it.

I never put ketchup on sandwiches at home (not even burgers and hot dogs).
But along with Domilise's, there was a place in Loreauville, The Patio, that I went to 25-30 years ago. They put ketchup on the shrimp po-boy (I think it was even Tabasco ketchup, which wasn't common back then) and it was great. It was a sad day when I moved back to Louisiana and found out The Patio had closed.

I remember reading an article about the marriage of the daughter of the Olde Tyme owner and the nephew, I believe, of the Parkway owner tying the knot. Doesn't seem like it was too long ago.
I can't recall getting just ketchup served on a shrimp poboy. I've had cocktail sauce put on one and it was okay. I like tarter.

No they do not. I've seen a few online videos that claim this but I've eaten over a hundred shrimp po boys from their since the mid 80's. You can ask them to add it but it doesn't come standard, neither do pickles.

They hollow out most of the breading, which I prefer, to allow for the sandwich to hold the toppings without falling off. I'm not a big fan of thick breading po boys.

They 100% put ketchup on my poboy when I ate there, or else I wouldn’t have annoyingly bitched about it here ever since.

I HATE ketchup, sorry they put it on yours. Funny thing about me hating it, the only time I EVER eat ketchup is on the Olde Tyme fries The thickness and heat from cooking make it OK after we season them at the table.
