Not in Lafayette proper, but the Villager's Cafe in Maurice has the best fried shrimp or oyster po-boys that I've ever had. Olde Tyme's bread is a little too soft on the outside for me, but it is still good, just not as good to me.

Is that the one that also just opened in Youngsville? They have a solid shrimp poboy. I’m an old tyme fan I don’t love the ultra crunchy bread. I usually get them from BJs in Broussard but the quality post vid has been lacking some. Sometimes there are not nearly enough shrimp, like a single spaced out layer giving you bread bites.

You got that right. I usually get the cup of gumbo with the special. Good call. If that guy gets that he will come back and thank us

That is my favorite part. I hate bread that cuts me when I bite into it.

I was gonna recommend Villager's, but didn't know if he felt like driving out to Maurice. Plus the place is so small if you don't get there early you might be waiting for a table for a while.

I took a look, they did open one in Youngsville. Shrimp was great if you like crunchy bread. Its not jack your mouth up but its not old tyme.

The owner of Villager's used to work at Old Tyme a long time ago. So, you will find their poboys to be similar (good).
Villager's is so busy on some Friday nights (esp during Lent) that they leave their phone off the hook because they are too busy making poboys. I saw this firsthand.
