Not a good reason to use it.

I've been using Cocoa butter and am getting equally shitty results.

Please help.

Heat skillet. Add olive oil. Then gradually add butter.

This should only be used for "searing." Quick in. Quick out. Otherwise, you'll burn the butter.

Not sure why you would have thought this was a good idea.

All that is missing is wrapping that puppy in some bacon & adding blue cheese on the top

Not sure either. I think I will stick with my normal method.

If I'm searing in the cast iron skillet and not over charcoal, I'll use safflower oil. It's got a pretty neutral taste and has a high smoke point. If you want to finish with butter that would be fine but I wouldn't sear in butter.

Make it easy on yourself and find "Gordon Ramsay how to cook a steak" on YouTube. All the explanation you need.

I know how to cook a steak. I was just trying something different that didn't work out. I will return to my regularly scheduled process.

The video shows how and when to use the butter. Me thinks you added it too soon and probably got a burnt taste.

Yes. We also have 1% organic milk and other healthier options. Just the way it is.

Don't sear with butter. Sear with an oil that can do it, then do the butter thing at the end.

This is really all that should be done. Sear w/ olive oil (I use EVVO). If you want to throw a clump of butter on it after taking it off the grill I'm sure it will end up melting.

I'm with LEarl here in wondering what the world is coming to that we are placing butter on steaks. Probably the same people ordering steaks at sammys.

What makes you (or your wife) think "yogurt butter" is a healthier option than real butter?
