I've lived all over the country and the only place I've seen it done is in the south. I don't think it's too bad, but a good melon needs no help in my opinion

My dad always douses melons with salt. I don't because I like melons.

My grandma always put salt on watermelon, so I didn't know until recently that it wasn't a common known thing to do. My husband grew up in Jackson, MS and had never heard of it.

Salt is added to pretty much everything as a flavor enhancer, why not melon as well.

Use salt, pepper & a bit of balsamic vinegar on most of my raw fruits

Oh, God yeah, that's good. Find a nice aged one (the kinds that are a bit syrupy) and use just the slightest drizzle.

Nice sea salt on vanilla bean ice cream does good too.

I salt canteloupe, honeydew, and watermelon. Yankees always look at me like I'm nuts til they taste it.
