Large filet med rare
Creamed spinach
Potatoes au gratin

I really like the filet there. We went one time, I think I got the ribeye and she got the filet. I sampled her dish and felt ripped off. So when we went there again, I got the filet.
Oh and the onion rings are really good and huge. The one problem is they come out of the deep fryer lava hot.

I don't get the hate for filet around here. Yeah, yeah, fat and flavor. It's not that I don't like ribeye, but I've never been disappointed in a think filet cooked on the rare side of medium rare.

Don't hate it at all. Having said that, I will never order a filet if a ribeye is also on the menu. Nope. Doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy a filet. Just means I don't enjoy it nearly as much as a ribeye.

I used to order the veal chop often, but it's no longer on the menu. RC does a great filet. Not everyone does.

Speaking of no longer on the menu at Ruth’s Chris, I miss the simple escargot garlic butter app. Need to duplicate it somehow. Reminded me of Drago’s chargrilled oysters but with snails. ??

After reverse searing ribeyes and strips for a couple years, I had an Outback filet after not having been there in a long time. Could not believe how bland and tasteless it was. Not that I ever thought Outback was anything special, but years ago an Outback filet was an acceptable meal to me (better than fast food, at least).

There are plenty places where a filet is bland. Ruth’s filet is not that. Their filet is special. My wife isn’t a steakhouse fan so we rarely eat at Ruth’s. So when I have the chance to get there, I can’t help but order the filet.

I go strip, filet, ribeye in that order. A good ribeye is great, but I've had too many ribeyes with chewy chunks of fat consuming 20% of the steak and it kinda turned me off to them.

If someone is willing to split with me, I think the strip is awesome. However, I often get the filet because of the smaller size. Not a fan of boxing up steak.

I'm with you there. Unless I can see the ribeye first, I usually go strip. I'f i'm doing it myself, I usually go ribeye since I can pick out the one I want. Restaurants I default to strip.

Well, yeah - which is why I put it just a notch above McDonald’s. But the point is that an Outback filet is bland relative to other cuts at Outback, not that all Outback steaks are bland. In general, a filet is bland relative to other cuts is the point Not the case at Ruth’s.

Agreed 100%. It’s really quite odd. I suspect the sentiment is that if one is going to spend $60 on a steak, it might as well be 16 ounces instead of 8 ?

I hate that "I'm gonna get my money's worth" mindset.

This lady at work is so strongly set about going to Phil's on Perkins (which is bad) just so she can get three meals out of one.

I'd like to have a nice meal and if I'm going out for that then I'd like to be able to blow some cash on it and have something memorable.

I like rib-eyes, but there’s a reason a 10oz filet usually costs the same as a 16oz ribeye.
