Done with them too. If you live in AP like me, you are pretty much screwed. I would like to shop at Ralph's but they don't have the variety I need. Not going all way in to BR. Alexanders is my next best bet.

I sound dirty saying this but WalMart meats have been better than Rouses. May have to try a local butcher or something though

I've never really had these issues in the New Orleans area stores. I usually check the date and cook it the same or next day at latest.

Yeah I've never had an issue either. Guess it's just good luck

Only one problem at the Ponchatoula Rouse's so far. A gallon of milk was sour. Took it back 3 days later and got another gallon exchanged at no cost. We are pleased with Rouse's.

If im worried about something smelling rancid, I poke a small hole in the plastic and smell it. If it is good, then I buy it. If it is bad then I notify an employee. It's really a fail proof technique.

Never had an issue in New Orleans and I'm probably their best customer

Twice with the Rouses in ponchatoula. One was a pork roast and the other was chicken breast. Both were returned for refunds. The pork roast was bought in the morning and when opened that afternoon to be cook, smelled like rotten arse.
I've had two issues with meat at this location. I bought a pork butt a month ago that was rotten in two days and made the refrigerator smell like death. Also had a problem with the in-house deli meat being noticeably undercooked a while back.

Had a problem two Sundays ago with the rouses in Gonzales . Apples and strawberries were old and spoiling. I thought that I checked the produce carefully but once I ate a bite of two red apples, i was pissed.

Threads like these make me feel fortunate to have H-E-B and H-E-B Central Market.

Yup. Gave em a try since they are closer than Alexanders. Meat selection frickin sucks and the seafood looks like it's the same shite at Winn Dixie.
Oh look at me I'm filleting a fish right in front of you.... don't mind the cloudy eyes on it, that means it's fresh.
I only buy meat from calandros or Alexanders. Never had any issues with either and quite frankly it's a better looking product.
I will occasionally make the trip to iverstines
Also, never place a catering order with those fricks either. The drusilla and airline locations are shite. Wife got something for a get together at work, went to pick it up and they had no clue what she was talking about. Manager took her order
told her to come back and it would taken care of. Went back, no food and the people had no clue who she was. Fast forward, different location same damn thing happened. Moral of the story.... frick that store and their Rouses brand shite.
Alexanders and calandros are local folk and they get 95% of my business.

Ah yes, forgot about another issue like this as well from there.
I bought a rotisserie chicken from them that was undercooked as well. I call the store and the manager offered a refund but didn't really seem surprised at the the issue.

the LeRouse's on Drusilla has definitely taken a quality hit in the variety and quality of their meats. They've also cut down on a lot of variety of brands in the other sections as well. I still shop there, but it's a definite step down. That said...it still beats the everloving shite out of that damn Hi Nabor.

The rouses on airline has zero choice in meat. They don't even carry lean ground meat. It's either their own shitty ground meat which is usually 80/20 or that prepackaged buffalo ground meat. That and I'm sick of them peddling their brand of beans instead of good shite like Amy's. I get selling your brand but don't make Rouses brand the only brand to choose from.
Their produce quality is pretty good though. However they do lack in choices. 3 types of apples, 2 types of grapes, etc.... it's like the guy on Joe Dirt at the firework stand who only sells snakes because he likes the snakes. They seem to forget they have customers.
If Calandro's would step up their produce game there would be no reason for me to shop anywhere else.
I like Alexander too, but they are really proud of their food. Went today and got reminded why I stay away from there.

Beer selection at the 308 store in Thibodeaux is the best I've found on the west side. If someone knows of a better selection please advise

Cannatas in Houma blows Rouses away
The Thibodaux store usually has beers that are way past their prime. Think they still have 11/10/16 Envie on the shelf as well

HEB, Food Town, Kroger and Randall's for me. I am shocked by this thread. I have lived in or visited (extended stays) quite a few states since leaving Louisiana. I have NEVER bought spoiled or rancid meat. And I have bought a LOT of meat in my lifetime. One time would end my relationship with the store for me.
If that happened in Houston, customers would contact whatever agency does inspections and news crews would be on hand to get the breaking story on the grocery store.
I couldn't imagine buying meat that is dated to expire in a couple/few days and it already being bad. I bought multiple packages of pork finger ribs and two big ole beef chuck roasts from Food town to take to Toledo Bend for Easter. If any of it would have been spoiled I would have been very disappointed.

Chris Nakamoto is very busy right now dealing with the daily corruption coming out of the Mayor and Governor's office. He's the only investigative reporter in the country worth a shite.
