Based on the recs of this board I decided to check out Rocco’s today. Hadn’t been there in many, many years. I ordered the “Crescent City Combo” with a side of extra gravy. I assumed the gravy would be the debris gravy from their roast beef. Instead I proceeded to watch as the guy went to back and pulled out an industrial-sized can of generic brown gravy, opened the top, and dumped it into a big vat and then layered it on the sandwich and filled a little cup with it for the extra I’d requested. When he brought it to me I asked, “Wait, y’all use canned gravy?” to which he replied, “I mean yeah, we can’t make it fresh every day.” I should’ve told him I didn’t want it but I’d already paid and I was hungry. Brought it home, took one bite, and threw it in the trash. It was fricking terrible.

One in Prairieville was horrible....
Between service and prices I quit going after a few visits....

You would be the only one in, sitting at the bar and have issues getting a new beer. Sandwich would come out cold and wrong.... people just didn't care

Yeah, that looks like garbage. I would have thrown it away too.

Not to hijack, but I got a catfish poboy the other day and didn’t question the toppings (which was on me), but when I got home I looked and it came smothered in cocktail sauce. I’ve never seen that before in my life. Threw it away immediately.

Rocco’s has been like this. I don’t get how he keeps the doors open anymore.

I used to go to the original on corner of Chimes behind McDs as a student when Troy opened in late '80s/early '90s, and also with a friend to Drusilla location over 15 years ago.

His Manager Bert ran Drusilla well for TRoc for a while in early 2000s. The seafood muff with catfish, shrimp, and oysters, was really good. But, even then TRoc was AWOL trying to be a Prairieville politician or spent his time exclusively out there at new location. It slid and slid, and I haven't been in 12 years or more, despite living close by. I view the guy in the same lite as Louis De Angelo or even a Phillippe Parolla,etc..talented guy that had a winner..but burnt out or just fumbled it all away.

I go to Maxwell's, Eliza, Jed's, Parrain's, Montalbano's, Philly Me Up, Off the Hook,Iverstine, PBE, etc..

It wasn't bad when it opened, I went years after and I would prefer Subway over Rocco's.

Maybe if you went more often than “many, many years” they could afford to make gravy from scratch

I love Heads and Tails, but Michael Cashio is taking a break for now. His Shrimp Poboy was/is great.

That gravy glop looks disgusting. They could at least buy a good beef base and make a gravy. They could simmer some debris in it for added flavor.
