Anyone remember Chris’s Bar downtown?

was a bartender there in 1993-94. My neighbors in spanish town had purchased it. Oldest bar in BR and home of the fishbowl. Judge Saia and other members of the judiciary used to come and eat and drink lunch daily. I used to carry a .38 tucked into my waist band at night behind the bar. I had no license or anything. The owners kept it behind the bar and told me to "keep it handy" after dark. The place was legendary.

Came here to read the comments of people talking shite about Ty. I'm disappointed. I'm sure results would be different if this was on the OT.

Umm someone elses son died there from overdrinking.

Yeah because he popped a bunch of pills and shotgunned pitchers of Three Wise Men.
What’s your point?

know that I ate there as a child…. My mom was from new roads….
Ralph and kaccos was sold twice and went from mediocre to horrible before it closed for good….
The Olindes had a great resturant…..

Worked there for a couple years in college. Even in that short time I saw the quality of the food fluctuate as ownership kept changing. At the end of the day I think the Bluebonnet facility was too large to maintain and be profitable unless it was under elite management.

EDIT: I remembered it was Round the Corner.

And what about the pizza place next to it?

I am pretty sure you are thinking of Bono's (this was in the mid-late 1970's). It was where Roul's is (or right next to it.
