Restaurants near South Congress in Austin

I’m going with the wife and in laws to Austin on Saturday and the women are planning on doing some shopping in the South Congress Area.
What are my best options for lunch? I’m open to anything but since it’s Austin Tex-Mex, tacos, and BBQ would all be nice.

Don't get sucked into going to Guero's. It's not very good.
South Congress Cafe is pretty great, I love the food and they make my favorite Bloody Mary. They also used to have a deal where if you sat at the bar during the day Mon-Thurs, you got 20% off.
That would be my pick but I moved away a year ago so I'm not entirely certain what has popped up since then.
Cooper's BBQ isn't too terribly far from there and it's decent. Throw a rock and you'll hit a Tex-Mex joint. Habenero's is a hidden gem just down the road on Oltorf. May be a hike, but if you'll have a car it's probably 5 minutes tops.

Lucy’s Fried Chicken is pretty good. It’s a little mild compared to here, but it’s well cooked and the sides are excellent. Perfect SoCo vibe. Torchy’s Tacos has a location on SoCo. The Brisket taco and Pork/Green Chili are my favorites there.
I wouldn’t worry about BBQ for that meal. Go to Valentina’s Tex Mex for that.

Perla’s is the only thing I’ve found to be worthwhile on South Congress.

Valentina's is my absolute fave, but it's SO far down Manchaca. Not a big deal if you have a car but can be tricky for a tourist. I dream about their brisket tacos.

We’ll have a car so that’s not an issue. My father in law is a retired cop who has a bad back so we are going to try to limit the long walks.
I also live in Dallas and they live in Georgetown, so we want something good, but it’s not like this is our only shot to have lunch in Austin.

Curra's is a couple of miles from SoCo on Oltorf. Great mexican food.

Hooters at riverside/Barton springs

Torchys is great. I wish they had it in BR. I get the pork green chili, brisket, and trailer trash extra trashy

I love torchys, but we have that in Dallas so I’ll probably go another direction.
I agree that a franchise in BR near LSU with a large bar area would absolutely print money.

Magnolia Cafe. Güero's. Stop in STAG which is a men's shop. They don't offer first but if you ask for a Shiner, they'll gladly give you one for free as you browse. Awesome place.

We ate at hopdoddy on south congress a couple weeks ago... it was kinda a spur of the moment pick, but it was really good burgers. I know it’s a chain, but it was still really good

As mentioned earlier, go to South Congress Cafe for brunch. Perla’s and June’s also a good option, but my bet is South Congress Cafe.

South Congress Cafe
Perla's
If you go a block off congress on oltorff, Curra's is good Mexican
And Polvol's on s. 1st is good interior Mexican.
Don't go to torchy's or hopdoddy. The lines are long and the food is overrated.

Bouldin Cafe on S 1st is awesome for vegetarian stuff. I know I was skeptical but it’s really good. Also Elizabeth Street Cafe is good French/Asian fusion place.

We ended up here and it was great! We had the ribs, chicken fried steak, Caesar salad, Pimento cheese, and burger.
It was off the path of South Congress, but we had a car and getting around wasn't a problem. Next time I'd want to try Habenor's, but the cash-only turned my father-in-law away.
