Maybe an odd question and I'm somewhat of a novice to red wine, but can anyone recommend a red wine (type of grape, particular vineyard, etc) that makes you chill out?

Typically, red wine makes me real giggly and tee-hee like. I'd like to find a style that makes me relaxed and chilled out.

Any help?

Pinot Noir is a good all around red wine. I personally like J from the Russian River Valley. There are a lot of wineries in that valley that I also like.

I think you spelled weed wrong. Varietals of wine won’t really give you a different type of buzz. Or they have never for me. But you may want to try something with lower alcohol content, like a Pinot noir. Those big cabs and zins pack a harder punch than a Pinot.

I don't think that's how it works. Might just need to find a different booze that does chill you out. Although, euphoric/excited ain't the worst feeling in the world.

Yeah, sadly that's out of the mix for me. I can't describe it, but I've typically found that red wine makes me just loopy and giggly. I really enjoy it, especially with food, but I was just wanting something to really calm me down and relax me. That loopy feeling isn't necessarily the most relaxing feeling.

Maybe I'll look to Kava Kava root or something else.

Add a couple of shot of NyQuil to your decanter before pouring the black box in.

How old are you?

At any rate, just look for a bottle that contains the grape called “Robitussin.” It’s a noble red and pairs well with a few slices of aged English cheddar.

Sounds like you’re describing a green plant not wine that you need

It just depends on what kind you like. If you enjoy a structured, full bodied red, go with a Barolo or Cabernet Sauvignon. If you prefer a lighter, fruitier red, look at a Dolcetto or Pinot Noir.

Rombauer Zinfindel.

Deep red wine, smooth to drink and not too sweet or dry.

About $25.00 a bottle.
