170/154.5/150

not bad considering that I have about 4 lbs of mucus in my head.

anecdotal evidence:
The "diet only loser" crowd is correct because I haven't exercised since Saturday and have dropped a few lbs.
The "diet and exercise loser" crowd is right because I felt much better the last month when I dropped weight by exercising while watching what I was eating.

I guess that means as long as we are all losers, we're all right (or alright).

220/214/150 down another pound of the three I put back on. At least the scale is moving back in the right direction.

Yeah, the weight is coming off again, so I don't think the free days hurt me badly.

so Atkins people...

as i mentioned earlier, the only thing really holding me back from doing Atkins is me totally ruining it by drinking

i was doing some research and found out that my drink of choice has 0g of carbs

Gin- 0g carbs 1.5oz
soda water - 0g carbs 8 fl oz

can I do Atkins and drink rather freely and no have and negative affects regarding weight loss?

i only drink maybe once a week...twice at the most....

thoughts?

I think they are allowed to round down so it could be .75 carbs per serving.

If u can drink and eat and still be under 20 grams of carbs then it is certainly worth a try.

I'm about to head back into induction myself.

I have been bending my diet to my WANTS and not the way it NEEDS to be lately.

Time to get refocused and make the final hard push.

Good luck with Atkins.

Ancient Chinese Secret... I drink almost every weekend. Jack and coke zero. The way it works, your body will burn off the alcohol instead of your fat while you're drinking. Once you are done burning off alcohol, you go right back into ketosis (assuming you didn't eat too many carbs in the process of drinking). So it does temporarily stop you from burning fat, so say a day.

I think you mean induction.. your body is in ketosis 24/7 while on Atkins. And no, I did not drink in induction, I had a clean induction. A clean induction is fairly important to the diet. It helps you train your brain. I also stayed in induction for 4 weeks instead of 2 and am considering taking the plunge back into it, as I've gotten fairly lax in what I eat.. I make sure I stay low carb but I feel like I need to re-discipline myself.

I always felt you came out of induction way too soon. You are really supposed to stay in induction until the vast chunk of weight is off.

I've got about 3 days more of red beans and then I am back into induction until this damn weight hits 185.

CT is going to beat me and Cad the way we have been puttering and stuttering lately.

So I am breaking out the big guns and hitting induction hard.

No.. not really. Not if you are following the 2002 DANDR book. 2 weeks of induction, longer if you want but he recommends 2 weeks and then doing OWL and training yourself what's good and what's not.

They can round up and down, but they'd round .75 to 1, not 0

I'm not actually doing Adkins but my targets in weight loss mode are:
low carb (30-70g), high protein (80-130g), mod fat (40-80g), total cals around 1200 -1400 and sodium under 1800.

I have scotch and water nightly (no carbs) but I account for the calories. As I near my goal, I'll adjust everything but the Scotch, cuz that's how I roll.

My cheats usually end up with carbs well above 80 and sodium well above 1800 and are rarely alcohol related. Results in bloat and swelling. (and guilt)

lester, etal

dirty little secret..several evenings i've had 2 or 3 corona lights (7 carbs or so) for "dinner" ..ok i'm hanging out with a couple of lovely ladies at the flying saucer but i digress...

the point is..i skip dinner when i get home..the beer makes me feel pretty full (even though i try to stop at 2) and almost without fail, i've weighed in a pound or 2 lower the next morning.

i know beer can dehydrate you, but more often than not, the weight didnt show back up..that weight set a new low for me.

unfortunately i've been too busy to further 'study' this lately but the point is i dont think drinking completely screws up your weightloss.

Hey guys, I'm a PUTTADAFORKDOWN n00b.

I am 5'10.5" and was weighing about 173. %body fat was at 23.4 and BMI was at 24.5 All the weight was in my stomach and neck. Gross I know.

Anywho, after running about 1-2 miles a day and eating healthy food in small portions I am down to 161.2/19.4/22.6

I have been at it about 6 days and have a question.

I know eating TOO little is a problem when losing weight. I'm afraid I might be doing that. My lunches are say, a turkey foldover with some sunchips and dinner might me, grilled/baked fish with some fruit. I drink water constantly and coke zero with meals.

How much food it too little?

Thanks and I look forward to getting back in shape with you guys!
