It’s on the way! What kind of pellets do I need? Not looking to trade pellets every time I cook. I’ll be doing Boston butts, chicken thighs and occasionally steaks. Also redfish on half-shell.

only pellets I think suck are the traeger pellets I got at dat Costco.

Comp pellets like B&B at Academy and Pitboss at Lowes are solid for all applications.

In 12 years of pellet cooking I’ve ran just about every brand out there with no issues. I just buy the cheapest shite I can find now to run in my Yoder. Every pellet has the same flavor, don’t feed into the wood type. I have been buying 40lb bags at Sams now for a while.

The ones at Sam’s burn real clean for me. I have less ash to clean up and they seem to not empty as fast in my hopper. I believe they are a hickory, oak, cherry and maple blend. You get a 40 pound bag for what some 20 pound brands cost.

I really like lumberjack, but I can’t find them locally around BR. I usually roll with kingsford when I don’t feel like ordering lumberjack

This is the most pellet-smoldering outdoor electric oven comment I’ve ever seen.

When you run an actual smoker with actual wood, you’ll see HUGE differences with wood types.

I completely agree, using my Masterbuilt gravity feed and using real wood is amazing. I can tell the different types used unlike pellets. I recommend the Masterbuilt to everyone looking at pellet grills now. You still get the set it and forget ability but with 10x the smoke flavor.

I just got my 590, put it together last night and did the initial burn in. I used B&B competition from Academy. It reached 400 degrees really quick and stayed at exactly 400 for most of the 1 hour burn-in. Went as low as 397 and as high as 402, but most of the time was dead nuts on 400. I was impressed. Cooking baby backs on it tomorrow if I have time.

I bought a 590 and I've been using it for a little over a month. I've been using pellets from Lowes which is like 19.99 for 40lbs
