I did a search but couldn't get any results. Here for the week from out of town and would like some good pho or maybe ramen... and, geaux!

For pho I would recommend Dangs or Saigon Noodle. Ramen can be had at Umami, Chow Yum Phat or Jinya.

Dangs has the best pho, and it’s really not close

I haven't been to Dang's in a while. Is it still as good as before?

Yep.
For ramen I like the Hangover Ramen at Umami... Soji has some good versions also

Try some "bun bo hue" from Saigon Noodle.

Nah try it at Dangs. It’s the #77.

I've had it Dangs too. Both gtg. Dang's is a couple bucks more. Can't beat it from Saigon Noodles for the quality and price(9.25 lg bowl).
Spring rolls from Saigon is legit too.

Not a fan of saigon noodles pho. Too much star anise and spices, over powers the broth.
Dang and little saigon are 1a and 1b to me for pho.

Dang’s is the best, but Viet Garden’s is pretty great too

Can't go wrong with the three out on Florida. Viet Garden, Dangs, Saigon Noodle. If in South BR Bao is the best.
There are a few other places around that are okay but not great. Ava Street Cafe, Cafe Mimi, Pho Cafe.
New places that I haven't tried and haven't heard reviews for are Pandan Teahouse and Cafe which is by campus near Chimes. And it looks like there's a brand new place, Simply Pho and Tea that opens today on Jefferson near Bluebonnet.

Jinya is the only Ramen i know of. Had it for the first time a couple weeks ago. Not bad.

quote:Ah yes, the delicious spicy beef. I request it with shrimp paste on the side which is some stinky stuff, but it adds a pleasant pungency. Does Saigon Noodle's bun bo hue come with blood cake which is a usual ingredient in a true Vietnamese version of that dish? I can't find any place around here that has it...have to go to Houston.
bun bo hue
