Friend,

If you are talking chicken wings, I agree. The only worse part on the chicken is the foot. If you are talking buffalo as in bison, I will continue to eat it even if it means you cannot, but I will share. I sat alone tonight at the Crater Lake Lodge restaurant and ordered the off menu special, the 16 oz bison NY strip. It was delicious and I ate it in less than five minutes, impressing the waitress. I did seven trails today with an elevation gain of 4,000+ and about 15 miles in length. It was very smoky early in the day so I didn’t start hiking until noon. It turned into a beautiful day. Tomorrow was supposed to be my Mt Shasta day, but I am not attempting to summit due to the smoke down there. Perhaps instead I will join Winston for pizza. He declined joining me for my Hood summit the other day.

It is quite chilly here, and when I returned after sunset from the Watchman hike, there was frost on the car’s roof. It feels wonderful. More to come.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

It depends where you order them from. I gave up on BWW. I gave them a bunch of chances and they're always terrible. Very tough and chewy. They rely way too much on their different sauces. You'd think a place that has the name "wings" in the name of the restaurant would get the wings right but..... and they're way overpriced to boot. Anyway, I digress.

Wingstop makes decent ones and they're always good.

Buy a pack of uncooked ones at the store. I got a pack of 11 that was just over a pound for a little over $7. I smoked them on my smoker and then tossed them in sauce and put them back on the pit because I didn't want them real wet. Tasted great.

You can do this on a regular grill too.

It’s out of control for flats and drums at a restaurant, but the price of raw whole wings is dropping like a rock.

Just buy them at the store and air fry them if you want your fix. Agreed they are too expensive at restaurant locations.

agreed. 1.99/lb pack from store + air fryer = no longer paying gouge priced for wings that look like they came of a mosquito.

Had it the other day for the first time in over 10 years. I think it's a bit underrated. Really liked the lemon pepper

I always buy them whole and make the cuts myself. It's super easy and you usually save over $2/lb. When I make them, I season them and grill until the meat is around 200. That makes it less chewy. Then toss them in whatever sauce the family wants.

If you are in Florida or Georgia, Miller's Ale House has a Wednesday special of 12 wings for $8.99. They are big and meaty when I've had them.

Been getting them at Winn Dixie on sale for $2 a pound for a while now. Seems they are on sale every other week.

Summiting Shasta is a lofty feat on its own, mate. Doing it the day after hiking 4,000 ft after lunch, in smoke, sounds a little far-fetched. Especially since he'd also need to drive almost 3 hours from Crater Lake.
