Urban South's 3DH was a crime being sold for the price that it did.
I've never been impressed with Snoball Juice.
Honestly, I'd rather DDH Holy Roller than any of the special release IPAs they've made.
I agree with this.
Finial and DDH Holy Roller are very good IPAs. The rest are just ok

I wasn’t a fan of any of the IPAs on the new release. Seems like they need to slow down. It’s akin to throwing a lot of shite against the wall to see what sticks.

Kind of makes you think US is really just trying a bunch of random shite trying to figure things out for their brewery-only beer releasing brewery in Houston

So what is better, brewing consistent or near consistent good to great beer or brewing a bunch of different things that are average to below average?

I’ll take option A for $100, Alex.

I as well, I refuse to rate GR just because most of the stuff I get from them is 1+ week old.
But imo they do not have a great every day drinker like Ghost. People comparing Commotion to Envie which is all you need to know. They also don't have anything close to DDH Ghost, Attacus, or Pure Tropics.

I've been out of pocket for a few days so didn't get to comment on this thread but....

Canebreak is my all time fav. But I drank their pilsner today and it was perfect too.
That makes sense, because the pilsner doesn't taste like a pilsner. It tastes like Canebreak with a lager yeast. Not knocking your tastes, drink what you like. Personally, i was hoping for a crisp lager, where the noble hops tend to shine a bit, but tastes very clean. This tastes like a malty lager, which apparently is what they were going for. But tastes nothing like a classic pilsner.
As far as the rest of the statement that they are the best in the state: They WERE the best in the state. They are still in the top 3 as many have said, but with so many other breweries making great beer down here, it's hard to put any one brewery as #1. Reve' may be my favorite parish beer. I also really liked DDH Envie Strata. Ghost is starting to taste a little muddled. It doesn't keep me from picking some up occasionally, but it is not the beer it once was, IMO.
I had their MIMOSA SIPS beer at chimes a while back and that was tasty, though it borders on calling it a beer. Oh and Pure Tropics was pretty tasty this year.
Urban South is doing some great things, and if we could get some of Great Rafts brewery/regional only releases, i'd put them near the top. Haven't tried any of the new guys like Gilla or Istrouma Biere Republic (name changed but forgot what it is called), but from what i hear, they are making some quality beer as well.

Who's the best, Bug?
I don't think there is a "best brewery". Now i can give my opinions of the best beers that i like for a given style.
Pale Ale - Tin Roof Voodoo
IPA - i don't know. A standard IPA sub 7% that i really enjoy and try to keep in the fridge is actually hard to find. And not to pull the "i homebrew card" but that's what i do for my IPA's around 6%. I did enjoy Pure Tropics by Parish. Oh, also i liked Urban South Citralicious IPA.
Double IPA's - NOLA's Tasman IPA or Tasman red IPA was really good. But, not all cans tasted the same.
Triple IPA's - those are for others to drink. I don't care for boozey IPA's.
Stout - I know it's not a traditional stout but i LOVE Parish Reve'.
Sours - Depends on the sour. I consider sours a subgenre' in beer. There are so many different styles of sour/funky beer. But, that being said. My favorite Louisiana made sours have been Great Raft Come What Mayhaw, and NOLA - House of the Rising (collaboration with 7eventh Sun in Tampa). Both were fantastic. I also really enjoyed Urban Souths Tequila Barrel sour which tasted very close to a margarita.
Quick sours - probably part of the sub-genre but Urban South's Lime Cucumber Gose is usually in my fridge in the summer.
Pilsners - there are no Louisiana made pilsners i care for. I usually drink foreign when i'm looking for pilsners.
Saison - Urban South's Coop'd Up is pretty good. They revised the recipe from the original recipe a couple years ago, and it's pretty tasty.

Also, the sour beer program was successfully moved to the new house. Expect more sours bottled soon!

That might be an apt comparison if Urban South were brewing a bunch of terrible stuff.
Posted on 11/7/19 at 12:18 pm to Louie T
1) Parish
2) Urban South
3) Gnarley Barley
That is how I rank the top 3.

Reading comprehension, where did I say terrible. I find a lot of what Urban South to be good/ok not great, hence average to below average.
I think Ghost, Reve, Pure Tropics, Attacus Atlas, 4x Envie are essentially the top of what everyone can get.
Jucifer is my favorite beer that I sip on but I don't think it is one of the best in state.

I think Parish brews the best beer in the state but their business model feels stale to me. I'm not as strongly into the beer world as I used to be so maybe that plays a part, but I just don't get excited by Parish releasing the same rotational beers anymore, particularly since so many of their IPAs are pretty similar to one another.
I do really, really love the SIPS line though. Wish they'd distribute it. At least it's on tap at Chimes and don't have to drive to Broussard for it.

That Parish Pilsner is awesome
Posted on 11/7/19 at 8:36 pm to Hulkklogan
I have no problem releasing the same if they are just as good or better than the previous variation. The 4x Envie they change the hops so you get a new beer each time and that is quarterly for them. I wish Pure Tropics happened more often though or was a year round beer
