This is not good news, IMO. For me, it means replacing Envie w something else. Maybe VooDoo or Jucifer.

As others have said, wish they would have expanded or choose another facility in LA to brew them... not go out of state, but I am sure the choice made was the cheapest. Ohwellus

Seems like a damn shitty move. Curious what the business justification is. Wondering how much they considered the possibility of it backfiring.

A few months back Andrew had this very long article/facebook post about expansion, etc... Basically stated he will not be expanding due to trends he's examined across the country and here locally. He pointed to Abita as an example, that as more breweries open up in the state, Abita's market share has decreased dramatically while BMC has only marginally decreased. While you can take that as good reasoning not to expand the brewery, I think he fails to also understand that Abita is a sub-par brewery at best. Locals drank it because they wanted flavor in their beer and that was the only option. Now we have options and Abita isn't getting any better. Same old tired recipes. Everything is in lager land, and most of their brews are just meh. If their goal was to become Abita, then yeah, i wouldn't expand. If your goal is to be the best brewery in Louisiana/the South, then of course you expand. Your sales will dip if the quality goes down. Consistently make good beer, then sales will always be there.

It wouldn't be a bad idea for them to focus on consistency and quality, that being said. Nova Vert was a mess, IMO. Didn't try any of the GR Month releases other than blood orange envie, and that wasn't that great either.

In regards to their contract brewing; kind of defeats the purpose of going local if their flagship beers are produced 3 states away.

I agree, this is a very weird move for them and a move that I think is pretty dumb especially when their chief is the "top beer advocate for the state"

Yeah I remember that post and also agree that if they are using Abita as an example for not expanding then I feel really bad for them.

The Blood Orange Envie was super awkward and not really sure what they were going for. Nova Vert was a shell of its former self and I am not sure what the reasoning behind that is but I have had multiple people say the same thing to me.

I am just having problems wrapping my head around how this idea was even agreed upon.

Jucifer @ the price point they will be at again beats anything Parish puts out imo. I loved it before they stopped canning.

Yea this is even stranger with that statement....I agree with you that they should expand if they are focused on being the best beer in LA and some of the best in the country......but to me you expand in the state not by outsourcing production out of state.

Jucifer is my favorite of the juice'd IPA's in this state as of late. I also like their attitude. They don't appear to take themselves too seriously.

The GB crew is great and that price point for Jucifer can't be beat.

I just called the brewery. After 20 minutes on hold I talked to some Indian named Sam. He said no worry, recipe no change.

My opinion doesn't matter, but I'm okay with it. I think it's smart. Part of my business is manufacturing, and I sometimes outsource large, simple orders so that I can concentrate on my more specialized, labor-intensive products. It gives Parish flexibility in the future without having to sign their life away to raise the funds to expand.

All of this assumes the product quality stays the same or improves.

There is inherently less control with outsourcing.

Eta if you are outsourcing your core competency which applies in this case (making beer)
