Anyone done this? I picked up some that were already boiled the other day and they had a nice citrusy flavor.

yes, I have used blood oranges before. I prefer lemons, but it's a nice change of pace.

Oranges do not belong in crawfish boil.

Bay leaves either IMO.

Yes. Usually use orange juice, but if I have some, or a grapefruit or 2, they're going in the water.

Yes, I use oranges. Now don't use them in substitution for lemons; you must use both. With that said, oranges add a great flavor to the crayfish

if it makes the bugs taste better, then hell why not?? I like mine with a slight citrus taste...in fact i usually squeeze the boiled lemons over mine anyway.

I use a good boil as a time to clean out the food stores. I've used all kinds of citrus with my crayfish--no problem

I disagree, I think bay leaves add a little something extra......not devastated if I forget it, but it doesn't hurt either.

Anyone who replies using the word crayfish instantly loses all credibility.

I've used pineapple(skin on) and sliced. Adds a good sweet flavor to the salt and spice.
