Taking my bride to NO for a weekend before the madness of school starts in a couple of weeks. Want to eat somewhere memorable- need suggestions for a very nice night out. Looking at commanders, Irene’s, la petite grocery, Brennan’s, Arnaud’s...any other suggestions would be appreciated. And of course a dish recommendation at that restaurant. Go

I submit August, Broussards, Criollo to your list. Love Brennan's for brunch

Take her to Colette’s.

It’s “All She Can Eat” there on weekends.

OP, if this is a rare experience for you to get out, I suggest Commanders or Gautreaus.

For a memorable dinner experience, definitely Commander’s.

Commanders, I understand it’s subjective but based on your criteria, it’s really not. I love la petit and arnauds but they’re clearly below commanders. Irene’s and Brennan’s are fun and still really good but Down another notch.

If you are not in NOLA much you can’t go wrong with Commanders but if it was someone who comes here on occasion but has not gone to Irene’s that is where I would send them.

Out of your list, I’d suggest Commander’s. The menu changes a bit but the shrimp henican app is always available. My favorite and I’d start there.

I second Brigtsen’s, as well.

The food is excellent and, like you said, a warm, cozy atmosphere in that converted side hall shotgun house.

Too many great options...i’d probably do Herbsaint or La Petite Grocery.
