Which bar/restaurant makes the best Old Fashions in the New Orleans and/or Baton Rouge areas.

I was pretty happy with the one that I had at Touche's

I had one at The American Sector that kicked my dick in the dirt. It tasted like straight Wild Turkey poured over an orange slice with a damn cherry thrown in. Apparently in the old days they didn't have water to mix with their whiskey, or life just sucked so damn bad they needed an anesthetic.

In Nola shockingly pat o's actually makes a really good one. In BR, lagniappe makers old fash is awesome, and city cafe has a blantons old fashion. I'm glad someone made an old fash thread, it's my absolute fav cocktail.

Radio Bar... I need to hit it up. I heard they muddle well and use the orange rhine scrapings.

It's not a hard drink to make. I start 90% of my nice restaurant meals with these.
Had a great one at Brigtsens a few weeks ago.

My husband likes them @ Beausoleil in BR.

I really like the American Sector bar. Only problem is there's never any decent looking chicks

It's harder than it should be to find a good old fashioned in BR. As already mentioned Beausoleil and LA Lagniappe do just fine.
In NO, most nice restaurants do a good job, though I particularly enjoy them at Cochon.

Wine Loft has their own take on one and it is little sweeter than most. Quite tasty.

Every place does it differently. Most recent standout was at Swizzle, next to Mike's on the Avenue. So good, I had about 6 of them. Also excellent at Domenica.
I prefer: step 1- muddle bitters, orange and cherry with a few drops of simple syrup; step 2- add ice; step 3 - pour in bourbon. This way, the first sip or two is pretty much straight bourbon, followed by increasingly sweet sips.

Try Tujague's.
The bar in there must be 100+years old.
Pretty cool place and a good Old Fashion or Sazarac.

Government Street. Just two blocks west of Acadian. One of the better bars in Baton Rouge.
