All the ones I have ever been to are good. The new ones in Hammond and Ponchatoula are huge upgrades to other stores in the area. Although the Ponchatoula one has better selection on products than the Hammond one, which I find odd.

Have been to Rouses in Slidell, Houma, Laffy, and the one just north of I-12 (Denham?) once. Apart from HEB, Rouses have been the best grocery stores I've been to.

the ponchy store was new construction as a rouses and is twice the size. The Hammond store is a converted LeBlanc's

the rouses on drusilla is a big step down from the leblancs that was there

My wife says the same thing. She works off of Jefferson and used to get our meats and her lunches from Leblanc’s and she said the Rouses sucks in comparison

I hear bad things about Rouses in BR (mostly ones that changed from old Leblanc's), but hear really nothing but good things about the ones in Nola and on the northshore. I have to think it's just those areas.

Sounds like they might be putting all their efforts into the the NOLA area stores. Didn't care for the quality of produce at the Houma locations. The facilities were well kept but not the greatest products.

I used to buy LeBlancs "manager special" about-to-expire meat almost exclusively, and even that meat seems to have lasted longer than most of what we get at drusilla rouses. Fresh meat is freeze or use immediately.

Forget buying produce there. Often on the verge of expired. I think whoever runs the drusilla rouses doesn't rotate stock enough or doesn't keep good enough track of dates on fresh items.

Had their Redbeans, Jambalaya, and Spaghetti at catered events recently and it was horrible

Wife tried to order stuff for work a couple times b/c it’s convenient. 2 of the 3 times they had no clue who she was when she went to pick up the order and had to go back. The third time (kept telling her to go to Alexander’s) the manager took her order and was supposed to take care of it and gave her a time to pick it up. She went and it wasn’t ready and she walked out.

I’ve had the rancid meat a couple times and that was it for me. I go to get my fix for Micky Brown burritos and the occasional bottle of wine. But frick them if I’m buying meat or produce from them.

I drive past them on airline and go to Alexander’s on the way home for work a couple times a week. Pretty much refuse to go.
My buddy in Zachary hates that store too. Same rancid meat bullshite... he lives for the days when they had leblancs.

When I was in MS Rouses was good and was a gift from god cause all they had was win Dixies.

When they started trying to be a fricking sav a lot and carry their own “brand” shite started going down hill. It’s cheap fricking product...

Matherne's on Bluebonnet had the best fried chicken at any of the grocery stores in BR. LeBlanc's on Drusilla was pretty good too. Rouse's took over both those locations and their fried chicken is horrible. The rest of the store pretty much followed along those lines.

I've found that Rouses to be ok. If your talking about the on near Barringer Foreman. They have great produce, and their lunches are pretty good. My only complaint is their meat selection. They have limited beef. I think there are only 3 rows of ground beef, and the leanest they sell is 85/15 i believe. Sometimes it's hard to find chicken thighs there as well. But their premade bayou boy burgers are legit.

Being a Rouses, they don't carry some things that i usually get at Calandro's, but all in all, it's where we shop for everyday items, due to the price. Other than that, i'm usually at Calandro's because of convenience and the beer/liquor selection.

the one on Tchoupitoulas in NOLA is very good.

I don't know, I've been before and couldn't even walk by the chicken section because of the smell, and have been when every pack of ground meat was that nasty greyish color. Everything else about it is fine, but the meat scares the hell out of me.

Rouses Airline is a nice grocery store. The prepared foods at Alexander's Market are no better than Rouses and the aisles at Alexander's are ridiculously narrow. I don't normally get the hot or cold prepared foods from these places anyway, and I mostly buy meat at Calandro's.

I don't understand the hate Rouses gets on this board.

What are the new places being built next to Alexander's Market?

Clarify please? Are you talking about Rouses Airline, because most all my experiences there have been pleasant and the employees have been friendly....I would imagine that every grocery store in Louisiana will have a few bad employees simply because of the low pay.

Is Whole Foods in BR better, worse or the same since Amazon bought them?

Steadily and progressively worse, since Day 1.
