NYT refers to neighborhood where Kenton's (Uptown) is as "remote"

In a piece on Kenton's, the author refers to Uptown as "in a somewhat remote yet up-and-coming neighborhood west of the Garden District". Twitter exploded apparently with people laughing their asses off.

It's definitely remote but not really up and coming. Not much gentrification going on there.

Of course locals don't find this remote. They don't have to walk from the Sheraton to "remote areas" outside of the Quarter.

True, I think most people would say something like, say, Plaucheville is remote.
Not an extremely populace area, within the city limits, with a Whole Foods a block away, like Uptown.

maybe if they had only called it remote, but they also called the area "up and coming." There is no justification. It's another New York Times "they have no kale" type of thing where they have absolutely no feel for the city. I wouldn't be surprised if the writer never even went to Kenton's.

It is certainly remote from the French Quarter/CBD but that shows the bias of the press that New Orleans is just Bourbon Street.
For comparison sake, while Brooklyn may be remote from Times Square it would not be a remote area of the Greater New York Area.
If the Nashville Magazine area is up and coming, can't imagine what the real estate values will be in 5 years once the gentrifiers have their way.

Well, I live here and have for quite a while. Actually, what I find funny is the numerous assertions in this thread that New Yorkers consider Times Square to be the "center" of NYC. I find those assertions quite comparable to a New Yorker making assertions about New Orleans neighborhoods that New Orleanians find funny.
