I think "remote" in this instance served as a proxy for "developing in cultural prominence". Yeah, someone mentioned a Whole Foods, but how is that important for someone not from the area?

And apparently, I implied (or perhaps expressly stated) that I "think I know New Orleans." I will not let it happen again. I will make sure that I submit any thoughts that I may have in the future relating to New Orleans to you prior to stating them. Does that extend to anything relating to South Louisiana, Louisiana in general or the South too? I mean, I was born and raised in South Louisiana, but you seem very, very territorial, so I don't want to offend you once again.

the jokes were gold - i did love them.
i could also see how a reporter could hop in a cab and depending on the route from uptown think that they were way off the beaten path.
that said, remote is an odd word to choose regardless. even if they went with something like "less touristy" or some reference to it being away from the downtown hustle and bustle.
