Not Your Father's - Root beer and ginger ale

Have any of you F&D members tried these beers before? They are made by Small Town Brewery in Wisconsin.
I tried some for the firs time this past weekend while the wife and I were visiting friends. Someone offered me the root beer version. I was a little perplexed as I'm normally offered a whiskey, wine, beer, margarita.
As a root beer fan, I gladly accepted. It was very good and I was caught off guard that it was an alcoholic beverage. I tried the ginger ale next and really enjoyed it. They both were right around 5.9-6%.
Do y'all enjoy them as well? Does Small Town Brewery brew other drinks? This is a nice addition and I'll gladly stock a few 6 packs at my home.

My best friend prefers this one over all of the other hard rootbeers. I've seen it everywhere. Even WalMart.
I can't speak for it. I despise root beer.

I like them both.
I also have tried the Henry's Orange Soda. Dangerously good.
I know someone who makes Mule's with the hard ginger ale, so that is another potent drink.

I think they're pretty good. Just way too sweet to drink much of.

I drank 5 when they came out.
The results were devastating.
Never again.

The Root Beer is good, but I can only drink 1.
The ginger ale, to me, has no flavor in it that resembles ginger at all. It wasn't very good.

I enjoy the Root Beer one but to others point, you can't have a lot it's so damn sweet. If I have a sweet tooth, I can drink 2 of them but usually 1 satisfies my taste...i actually probably buy a Sixer of that beer every couple of months....it's a nice refreshing drink after walking the dogs on a summer New Orleans day....it's not a sipper though as the beer needs to be ice cold...any warmth to it loses the root beer tastes and becomes too boozy tasting...I'll usually pound mine in 10-15 minutes.
I have not tried the Ginger one but it does intrigue me simply because lately I have been enjoying 2 parts Elijah Craig and 2 parts Ginger Beer with a dash of lime as a cocktail....I wonder how that beer would mix with a couple of shots of Whiskey?

Agree--both are way-way too sweet.

On draft it seems really sweet. Could have been that I was drinking beer that day up to that point. I can usually only have 1 or 2 in a sitting max.

Not Your Father's Rootbeer is the one that started the rootbeer flavored beer trend. As others have said, it's really good for the first one.

I bought a six pack a year ago drank one, gave away 4 and still have one lingering in the fridge.
I've heard its decent as a hard root beer float, but haven't tried.

Yep when I was not caring during the fall I was drinking 5 or 6 a night while sitting in the hot tub watching football. Within 2 or 3 weeks I had gained close to 20lbs and I was like well.....frick that time to get back on the gainz train.

Interesting taste for the first sip, couldn't finish it. WAY too sweet.

This. It was like liquid candy.
I do enjoy a boozy dessert, and will also enjoy a nice digestif now and then. But this fell short. If I want sweet booze, I'm going with Drambuie, a tawny port, or a cocktail featuring Kahlua.

They are just really really sweet.
I hear the Abita version is much the same.
Maybe woudl make like a good adult rooter float but idk about it overall.
Great for kids who wanna get wasted

Small Town doesn't actually make it. They pretty much sold the concept to Phusion Projects, which contract brews at City Brewing. You might know one of Phusion's other products: Four Loko.
