that was nice to listen to .. but i don't remember Roger Goodell being the person in the NFL offices that championed the saints staying in NOLA .. that was Paul Tagliabue at the time .. Goodell wasn't even the commissioner when all of that was going down in late 2005 and early 2006 when San Antonio was trying to steal the team .. Goodell didn't take over the top job until the very beginning of the 2006 season when everything was already in place .. That was Tagliabue and David Stern that got behind keeping those teams in NOLA .. not Goodell ... just found that to be an interesting attempt to defend Goodell by SVP ..

Goodell was part of it only b/c his boss PT told him what to do. I agree with you the media needs to stop playing that card.

NOLA has been through plenty. More than most, in fact, but it remains as vibrant as anyplace we've got. Happy this place gets to shine again

I'm bumping this thread just cuz. Just got back from the festivities and good times all around. Saw a very weak showing from team BO at GI hot beaver oyster challenge. Think 5 out of 13 did it. Must say I'm proud of our city and I'm glad I choose to live here.

We were down there for quite a while on Friday in various parts of the city and the scene is just unreal.
Bourbon reminded me of the day we were down there for when the Saints played in the superbowl. Totally great crowd and not the trash that comes in for mardi gras.

Got lots of compliments from the out of towners we talked too. They could not stop talking about how great our restaurants are.

Pretty amazing how New Orleans just has the ability to absorb an event like this.

@andrewzimmern: Huge shout out to the GREAT generous people of New Orleans. You should host the Super Bowl at least every other year.

My wife and I took the Magazine St. bus (yes, we did) downtown late yesterday morning. Wandered through the Warehouse District, Woldenberg Park and the Quarter checking out all the venues and media centers. People watching. All the fans were pretty cool and getting along.

Finally stopped for brunch at Sylvain. Really nice meal. Wandered around a little more then caught the bus back Uptown. Beautiful weather and a nice day.
