NOLA restaurants with an infant

Heading to NOLA for a wedding next month and we will have our 5 month old with us. What are some good options that are child friendly while also being a little nice than casual for an evening dinner.
Also what about Sunday brunch? Would Commanders Palace be an appropriate setting with an infant on Sunday morning? TIA

Literally any nice restaurant you feel like trying. My wife and I took our kids everywhere with us from 2 months on. That included Commanders, Antoine’s, Court of Two Sisters, Peche’, Luke, etc.

Your kids sleeping/activity patterns are more important but in general any lively place with a good noise level is great for infants. If you time it up right, they’ll either sleep through part of the meal or all the noise will cover up any fussiness. I took one of my kids to Galatoires when she was maybe 7 months old. Great age. Anytime she got a bit fussy there was someone from a table over who would volunteer to hold her and walk her around.

I would say Peche for dinner (great food but very loud atmosphere) and Cafe Atchafalaya Jazz brunch.
What weekend are you coming? A lot of good festivals and weekend options in March.

Depends on the child, my daughter was born restaurant ready, my son was about 8 before we could go out with tipping heavily and apologizing.

any child too immature to shut the hell up and behave when told to should be at home with a babysitter or you need to go to a fast food place instead

We go Peche often with our kid (currently 15 months) for lunch.
Get him some fried bread, side of avocado, and some other veggies and he is good to go.

Our experience eating out with infants was great. We’d ask for a table against a wall and bring the bumbo for him to sit in on top of the table. If he needed to sleep, mom would feed him somewhere discreet and then he goes in the baby carrier.
Now we have an infant and a 2.5yr old. It’s pretty much impossible to eat out with him unless it’s a big table with the grandparents and other adults willing to pay attention to him. If it’s just me and the wife one of us will spend a large part of meal dealing with him. We still occasionally do so but we’re a lot more cautious about where we go and when.
At the end of the day though, if one or both of the kids lose their shite at dinner, we feel it’s our responsibility to let the other diners eat in peace. So one of us will take the whining/screaming child out of the restaurant. If they keep it up we will take turns eating alone while the other handles the screaming kid in the parking lot or down the street. Sucks but that’s one of the small prices to pay for making a family.
So if your infant hangs out and goes to sleep without much fanfare I’d say you can go anywhere you want. If they are a screamer go somewhere loud or more casual but be prepared to have your dinner interrupted if the kid has a meltdown.

We still bring our kids everywhere and always have. Never an issue. Can't say that I never use the iphone / ipad to put on Mickey though...

We took our son when he was 7 months old. Did Peche and Toup's for dinner and Atchafalaya and Commander's for brunch. Always had a bottle at the ready and had no problems at all. The staff at Commander's even brought him a rubber duck with a chef's hat.

I took my daughter with us to La Boca when she was 7 weeks old. She literally slept the whole time. Get it out of your system while your child is tiny and sleeps all the time.

It’s much easier when they are very young. My kid is about to be 2 and it’s hard for him to sit still for that long. When he was under a year old we could bring him anywhere.

I would not advise another to bank on a volunteer to help you with your own kid.

ding, ding, ding, we found one of those parents who never taught their kids how to act in public and lets kids run wild
thank for ruining everyone elses night out because you are too cheap to hire a babysitter or too lazy to raise your kids properly

While I run a tight ship when it comes to disciplining my children, I still acknowledge there are restaurants that just aren’t child friendly and I do not bring them there if I can help it.
However, I must say I cannot garuntee their perfect behavior 100% of the time. So, if the one time they act a fool (and get disciplined for it) and we happen to be at a nicer restaurant, that doesn’t mean I don’t raise my kids properly. It means they acted out and made poor choices, just as normal children do on occasion.

Kids are going to be kids. It doesn't matter how well they are raised or disciplined or taught to act in public. They're not going to be perfect and there will be times they act like kids act.
All the kids in our family have been going to restaurants of various types since birth and very often. For the most part, they act very well. Once in a blue moon, one is going to be the exception to the norm because he or she is a child. If the behavior is the least bit disturbing, the child is immediately removed from the public area and dealt with. If the child learns the lesson at the time, the child is brought back in. If not, the child remains away with an adult until the others complete their meals or is taken away if we are in multiple vehicles. This is a very rare occurrence and I can't even remember the last time a child had to leave the room much less the restaurant. An evil eye usually ends whatever might be disturbing.
We like to go out as a large family quite often, kids included, and we will continue to do so.
How many kids do you have and how old are they?
