Opening in the old Arby’s location. Anybody know anything about it? Not another Johnny Deangelo’s venture, is it?

No it’s not Deangelo.

I just hope that they live up to their name. It would be nice to have some decent NY-style pizza close to home.

The one previously was good. Not sure what happened to it. They had a great chicken parmigiana sandwich among other things.

May take as long to open as La Marina did.

That was a DeAngelo, of some sort. Brother, Cousin, Uncle, somewhere in the family.

It was his uncle and he was a Strange guy. Berated his staff but made good pizza. Not sure where he ended up.

Ha, I remember reading about JD and his antics on TD.com...His place was where Taco Chops is now on Coursey. I never went there but always heard he was a complete a-hole to his staff, and not a lovable a-hole like Pokey.

Started out on Jones Creek and then moved there if I'm not mistaken. I loved his food and hated to see it go. The guy was a good cook but apparently had no idea how to run a restaurant.

Yep, I believe you're correct.

When that place first opened up, it was the old Mortorano's transplanted from downtown 3rd & Florida where Schlitz is now.

Johnny Deangelo also had ties to them, and opened Johnny Deangelo's there after they closed.

we've had two "New York" pizza places in recent years that had great pizza but were run by huge assholes

hopefully the third time is the charm

I am a little surprised with how quick they closed after the Restaurant Impossible show aired. I don't think it lasted another 6 months after. It definitely was busier right after and for a few months. My guess is as soon as the it slowed down, they shut shop before losing any more money or as soon as they got out of debt closed the doors.

FYI his family runs Bistro Italia on Coursey. I believe his sister and nephew (not that nephew).
