"New" Parish Beer - Festival Pilsner

Pilsner is quickly becoming my favorite style but something seemed off on this new advertisement. Parish already has a "pilsner" which i personally wasn't a big fan of when i first had it. Well...

Yes they did. I asked about it Saturday in the taproom and they told me it was the same beer.
It's not new, they did this packaging last year too, it's just special packaging for Festival International.

Probably so, weren't they offering this same beer during DTA events as the Parc Pilsner on tap? I'd imagine they're just doing the same but with Festival branded cans.

Interesting side note to this. In 2015 I asked the head of the Coors Golden brewery about adapting to changing tastes like brewing an IPA. He said they see the current beer trend of ipas and the like as a fad. People will eventually settle back to wanting a lager. I thought it was quite a myopic view at the time but I look around now and everyone is making and drinking lagers...

Never said i "hated" parish for this. Just disappointed they aren't making an attempt at a good pilsner.

Yeah, but I still don't consider purchasing domestic macro lagers. Lagers still need flavor.

IPA isn't going anywhere. To state that IPA is a fad is, like you said, pretty myopic. It does seem more breweries are starting to wade into the lager waters, but not the american light lager style like the BMC's. You are seeing a lot more pilsners, helles, and other classical german styles. These beers tend to test the brewers skills, as you can't hide any flaws.
FWIW, coors/miller/bud is not a pilsner by any definition of the style, despite what the can says. A pilsner is a hoppy lager. It is not a flavorless rice adjunct lager.

Exactly, IPA's aren't gone (hell even Alagash released a standard IPA last year). The hazy IPA market is just saturated and WC IPA has always been more of a niche. I still see a lot of APA's, but breweries are moving (back) into more interesting lagers to distinguish themselves in a sea of pale ales. There is a market of people tired of or never into IPA's.

IPAs have more variety and flavor profile capabilities than beer from 10+ years ago. They're not going away. The old target audience for old beer will eventually fall off and IPAs will replace the market eventually.
