I make it to BR a couple times a year and take my parents out to dinner. We always end up at the same places, Sammies, chimes, Lagniappe, Jubans, etc.

Looking for some decent new options.

TIA

It's not that new, but you try Beausoleil?
The Overpass Merchant is really good. Best burger in town.
The City Porks are all strong.
Willie's is a casual place near Chimes East.

Oh, and there's Gouter. I haven't been there yet, but it's a Chris Wadsworth restaurant.

Good suggestions.

I've heard good things about that new Italian restaurant Palermo on Jefferson.

Bistro Byronz is also good.

Still mixed reviews??? The original in Abbeville is nothing to write home about.

I heard it was kind of overpriced. Like $20+ entrees at lunch.
Bistro Byronz is really good. For some reason, we never go there (and we just moved to Mid City). I took my wife when we were first dating and I had a work lunch there about a year ago.

Merchant?

I just don't see it. Been three times. Totally uninspired and they know they have major issues in the kitchen.

It's been around a couple years now, but Bistro Italia has the best pizza/Italian in town. This place deserves more love than it gets.

Oysters are fantastic. Most of the other entrees are just ok. Think of Ralph and Kakoos

Neither are most of the restaurants listed , and I really don't think the op was looking for a new place but just a new one in his rotation, he is visiting BR and listed the places he usually goes to, I was just offering a suggestion

If this is true, then Baton Rouge is totally fricked. I went there twice to support a local restaurant. First time I ordered a sandwich. It truly sucked. Second time, I ordered a pizza. Tasted like the pizza toppings were left out on the counter unrefrigerated for three days. Their intentions are good, but their execution sucks.

ETA: I do recall the servers being patient and friendly. So I can't knock them there.
