I live in pineville in which I am bring her around here during the week. Her son just enlisted in National Guard and is in basic training. I have 18 years in the guard so she wants to go to the base and airfield to see tanks, helicopters, etc.
Which I have a special treat planned out that the civilians love at air field...

Anyway, she lives in Lafayette and this will be our real big date ( we have hung out before)
Just like me, we would rather do The opposite of usual (expensive resturant, movie, etc)

I want that hole in wall place that's been around forever that has food like your grandma cooked. I can eat there or wrap it up in a bag.

Then what is something that's just cool to go do in Lafayette where we hang out and be ourselves and see the true goofy side of us.

Here I could grab food, go down to red river lock and dam boat landing, watch sun set and eat, May even throw a rod or two to fish.

Please help with suggestiins

Put put golf, something stupid like arts and crafts where u make and paint something ( of course I am thinking, painting any little piece of pottery or thing, purple and gold is always a winner)

Last, but place to sit have me a gentleman Jack, pool hall, darts, maybe a karaoke machine or small dance floor

If a man can count one thing in this world, he can count on the brotherhood of DIE HARD TIGER FANS

what you got

Scroll down to the 100 miles of Grosse Tere thread. Then go drink beer at Parish in Broussard.

Eat at Pops (I know, hasn't been around forever) or Antlers.

Go drink beers at Parish in Broussard.

Judice Inn and Olde Tyme Grocery are the obvious picks for burgers and po'boys respectively. However, both are true Lafayette establishments and hardly off the beaten path.

Another option is BJ's for pizza and then swing through Best Stop in Scott for Boudin.

You want Max's. Burgers, pool, darts, (protected) sex.

Damn good suggestion for him.

If you want some arts and crafts activity, try Clayfish Bisque on Johnston street. People go in there and make and paint pottery.

For good homey eats Downtown, I'd send him to Dwyer's on Jefferson, Antlers, Johnson's Bouccanierre, or even Pat's (daily plate lunch specials).

These would all be good suggestions for what the op is looking for food wise.

And isn't there an art museum thing downtown where you can also paint?

Edit: I'm thinking of the Acadiana center for the arts downtown, but not sure if it offers what I think it does

Don't know about the art museum thing you speak of.

For putt putt golf, there is Kart Ranch on the Youngsville highway......I think they have golf.

Maybe some the Legends bars/locations will provide the bourbon and darts scene he wants. Bob's Pub (perfect for this) on Kaliste Saloon is now Legends.

ETA: saw your edit, and the only thing I recall is ACA doing a week long art camp for kids, which my kids did many years ago.

I'm not sure if it offers painting... There's a painting with a twist on Pinhook past the outback, chili's, golden wok in a little shopping center.

Go to Lake Martin and rent kayaks, beautiful area around there. For food I would recommend Bon Temp Grill and nightlife, Max's will be your best bet.
