Natchez food recs

Not food, but I always stop in Under the Hill Saloon.


Make sure to visit City Hall and see the grave of Tripod, the three legged cat..

I usually go to The Camp. They're not reinventing the wheel but they're good at what the do and have a pretty good beer selection.

The Camp. Get the Asian pork belly tacos or Pimento Sandwich, surprising assortment of local draft beers.

Magnolia Grill. Pricey but really good and fresh redfish usually.

Carriage house. Sunday lunch

Donut Shop. Honestly the only true can't miss spot. glazed donut and Fritter will reset your world.

Natchez Brewery. Actually has solid wood fired pizza and their beer not too shabby.

Old Country Store: in Lorman but worth the 30 minute drive. Been on Food network for a reason. True fresh Soul food.

The rest that are good but more commonly known: Fat Mama (Margarita is up there with Superior) Biscuit & Blues (biscuits and great steak) Mamie's cupboard (salad and soup under a black women's skirt).

I really like Carriage House, and idc what anybody says, I like Mammy's Cupboard. Last time I went to Lorman Country Store it was disappointing. The place was filthy and the fried chicken and other stuff on the buffet wasn't that great. Donut Shop used to be great but nowadays it seems like they're frying in old oil.

The old country store is always mentioned and I don’t know why. It’s ok fried chicken but all of the sides come out of a can and it’s up to like $25 a person now. Popeyes is better than old country store

Pretty much agree. I think the fried chicken is better than ok. It's damn good fried chicken. Or at least it was, I haven't been in a couple years. But you're right that the sides suck and its waaay over priced. Not to mention old dudes singing, if he's still in there singing, gets old quick. If you happen to be in Lorman Ms at lunch time you might want to check it out just to say you did. But I wouldn't drive for it.

I like Fat Mamas and their margaritas, but their tamales aren't really worth a shite. They're more like a steamed Mexican tamale and not a good Delta tamale simmered in da sauce.

We’ve been enjoying the Camp lately. The pork belly tacos are really good. A porch punch or river rocker will get you feeling ok.
Roux 61 is good but typically has a wait. They have good fried seafood and steaks.
