It'll be nice to have a good craft brew pub in BR with no smoking. It really makes a place seem trashy as hell if you walk in and the place reeks of cigarette smoke.

Also one that serves in the proper glassware. Hate paying $8 a glass and getting it in a standard pint glass.

So years ago (pre 2007) every bar was trashy as hell?

Not a smoker but Jesus some of you are very overdramatic about smoking.

I get where he is coming from it's kinda true…all dive bars you can smoke…corporate beer bars that attract the "business crowd" is non-smoking.

back in 07, since you could smoke in any bar, there were other methods of determining it's trashiness

Agree. Go have a bottle share at Pier 1 Imports if you can't tolorate what goes on at a bar.

That's really the look we're going for in the long run. Really struggling to get the right feng shui.

I can't just suddenly label a place trashy when nothing changed from before. Some of my favorite places didn't suddenly become trashy because the place down the street banned smoking.

Although the term trashy gets thrown around this website very loosely. I should have probably just ignored the post

Yeah, and I tip my hat to CoveBR. Most of the time this type of thing doesn't end well. He's handled it very well. I usually only drink beer on a beautiful campus or a lucious backyard when in BR but I would check this place out.

Well, that explains why you always bail on my tastings.

When you've lived in a place for several years that doesn't allow smoking, yeah, it feels that way. Maybe that's pretentious, but it just feels like I'm walking into some gross place with trashy people when it reaks of smoke.

ETA I haven't lived in BR since the mid 00's.

I can't fault someone for preferring to go to non-smoking bars. My fire for the smoking vs. non-smoking in bars comes out when outlawing it comes into play, which is beyond this thread.

I don't mind Corporate's environment, but I said after my first visit that I was interested in seeing what people from here thought because it really could go both ways.

Although it would be a top option when I am wanting to go drink beer with someone who also wants to drink beer, it won't even hit the radar for a night out with my lady friends. And I know that's not what they're going for, but it does make you wonder if the beer drinkers of BR can support it.

I live in a city where it's outlawed. But I feel that it should be up to the business. If I lived in BR, I would choose to go to a place like Corp Brew and Draft because it being one of the few smoke free bars. They are tapping into a market that is there and should profit from it if they do it right.

Fortunately, most of the better beer bars are smoke free. Both Chimes locations, Corporate Brew & Draft, Draft House, and Pelican House are all smoke free. I heard that Bulldog was going smoke free at the beginning of this year, but I have no clue if they did or not. One can only hope they do. Until then, I'll spend my money in places where I don't leave smelling like an ashtray.

I remember when smoking was banned in Florida about 10 years ago. Some restaurants and bars had already banned smoking as a matter of policy.

Before restaurants started banning it altogether, it seemed like the ratio of smokers to non-smokers was very low. Once the trend started to ban smoking, the ratio went up considerably in the restaurants that still allowed it, and it seemed like the smokers out-numbered the non-smokers in these places. I remember that's when it started to matter to me. i never minded it when the number of smokers was low...

That's all a moot point, now, since smoking is banned in all restaurants, now.

Think of the employees who get smoke blown in their face all night. It's unintentionally rude and bad for their health.

I know the "find a job somewhere else" crowd will pipe up, but that basically saying health isnt important to a service industry worker.

No job that isn't dangerous by nature should have health risks.

I'm sure there will be some blowback on this, but CBD did a good thing.

That is some funny stuff there Wise. Craft beer drinkers are funnier than BMC drinkers.

I hope to check out the place soon.

The florecents were on just as I said in my original post.

Also, your marked exit door at the front was locked. This is a serious fire code violation and a lawsuit waiting to happen. I saw several people attempt to exit but couldn't....better hope you never have a fire.
