I'm looking forward to trying this place. I spend alot of time at The Pelican House and never been a fan of The Cove because its too smokey. Corporate blvd. is changing for the better IMO. I like all these new places regardless of them being in an old strip mall.

I went recently, here's my thoughts --
My bartender was not very smart at all. He told my party that "Imperial" meant the IPA was barrel aged, and "Double" meant the IPA was hopped a second time. He said Hardcore Chimera was the best beer he had ever had. I asked him about the freshness of the beer, particularly the stuff heavy on hops, and he assured me that all the beer is properly refrigerated and will last a long time. He seemed to be a little more knowledgeable on the European beers (of which they have a lot) but, then again, I don't know much about European beers so who am I to say.
They are very proud of their Mead selection, which is a very strange type of beer. They have like 12 meads. Who has meads?
I went on an off night, so I won't really judge the atmosphere. I thought it was clean and well lit. The menu was easy to read.
95 taps and not a single American IPA. It is the Winter though so I won't get too upset. It just seemed really heavy on the European beer. There was a lot of Barrel aged stuff, which was cool.
Tom came by and chatted with us for a while. Tigerdroppings came up and he began quoting the comments from thread - particularly (I think it was Jones') comment about the view being of the Jason deli trash in the parking lot. He said he knew Louisiana Lady and she was very nice.
I'll be back, but I'm in no rush. I like how I can see the beer menu online.

Huh? Beer Menus just doesn't have IPA broken down into English/American/Imperial like BJCP. There are a few. And I'm waiting on several more to come in from distributors.

If it's old, we pitch it. As far as the whole kegged on dating thing... there are certain IPA's that are meant to be as fresh as possible and others that hold up very well. It depends on the particulars. But that's why we use sixtels. We are not going to keep anything past its prime.

Actually you're right, wrought iron and Elissa are on tap, off the top of my head. Those are IPA's. I guess just none that stood out to me.

I think I can safely say they did not get the joke. Tom talked at length defending the decision to put windows.
Polly and A Pub also came up. We'll just leave that one to the imagination though.

They should put mirrors in place of the windows so we can people watch without being creepy

I think this place will do fine if you guys just quit nitpicking it to death. All of you who are perfectly willing to have a beer in some random dictator's car should be willing to have a beer almost anywhere.
The taplist looks great and I have to admit that I frequent quite a few places that are pretty sterile here in Portland - only because they have a beer on tap that I want to drink. This sounds like a good place to meet someone for a beer and I plan on checking it out next time I'm in town. I hope some of you guys will join me.

Do you really plan your days to go to a bar weeks in advance?
God I'm glad I don't have to do that.

You inform everyone that you will be there in 10 days and in 17 days.

Somebody got their salad tossed in the parking lot? Was it ft? He needs to work more hours. That said, no one told me they were offering entertainment
Posted on 1/5/15 at 6:31 pm to TigerHam85
And? I will be there on those days for particular events they will be having. Not sure where the issue is...

He can defend the windows all he wants, but the view is a parking lot.
