If I leave out roasted red bell pepper from my mix am I going to be disappointed in the final product's taste? I made it last night to use this week and it has everything else. I just didn't want to get out and go shopping.

Wasn't expecting a Se7en reference in the F&D board, but I'll take it!

I make a lot of things in my kitchen, but olive salad is not one of them. By the time you buy all the ingredients, spend the time prepping them and cutting it up in a fairly fine dice, add the oil and other seasonings to make it taste good, it's just not practical.
Boscoli Olive Salad is just a bit over $11 a quart from Walmart and some generic brands a few dollars cheaper.

This. Jar of Giardiniera is like $3-4. Pitted greek olive medley from Sam's Club is around $7-8 FTW. Except I tend to rough chop with a knife. And sometimes I skip the giardiniera cause I'm all about the olives.

As much as anything, the “Olive Mix makes the Muff.” Pokie and I were talking about that one day, about this, yes, the Mix and the Bread. Pocorellos had one of if not the best in BTR.
His Italian Sausage is by far the best I’ve ever had. After Pokies funeral, all were invited to the house for food and drinks. Gino Marino had a large pan of Italian Sausage with onions. I think they both used the same recipe for Italian Sausage.

Unfortunately, I'm in Dallas. Fortunately, I don't mind making a batch and I keep the ingredients to make it on hand, but I guess my red peppers were too old and had a little fuzz on top. Anyway, tried a bite this afternoon and it was good, so went ahead and made a muffuletta with mortadella, salami, ham and provolone and it's wrapped, sitting in the fridge until tonight.

That sounds great. Pokies store he sold a number of jars of the olive mix. I’ll see if I can find a brand name, for the family to recommend.

Jimmy's Food Store in East Dallas has a couple of brands, including Boscoli's. LINK
They have a great deli and butcher case too.

You can get Central Grocery at HEB

Central is best but chop it up in a food processor.

Central Market has a good Muff Olive Salad in their olive bar. Question is, where are you getting muff bread? I make mine with varying degrees of success .

Thanks. I don't make them often, but when I do sometimes I like them cold right from the fridge, sometimes room temp or slightly warm and other times I use the toaster oven and melt the cheeses and put a little toast to the bread. Either way, I always wrap and put in the fridge for at least half the day, preferably overnight, to really let the juices blend with the bread.

I picked up some Italian meats over the weekend thinking I had olive salad here at home but I didn't. I picked up a jar of Boscoli from Sam's yesterday for $7.88.
Usually I like Central Grocery for their chunky mix.
