Super dark gumbo, BBQ shrimp and a massive martini are what make Mr. B's good. I've never had the steak there.

There are plenty of threads on the ever-popular "I can cook a steak just as good at home" topic.

I hate when people say this.

I’m not poor

Are you sure? Because doing math like that before going to a nice dinner is a symptom of being poor.

I've never really heard Mr B's in the conversation for steak anyway. Always BBQ Shrimp and gumbo.

They have things that are cheaper & not steak. They’re known for the barbecue shrimp.

I just looked at the menu, and the only steak listed is a truffle butter filet mignon for $39. It’s also nearly the most expensive thing on the menu.

The most expensive thing on the menu is $42 and it's not even the steak...

I absolutely love Mr. B's. To the point where we chose to do our wedding rehearsal dinner there.

Like like like I don’t know what that means oreg. Not saying I can cook steak better because I know I can’t just a simple opinion question. I checked the shrimp and grits looks great think I’m leaning that with with a cup of gumbo. Didn’t see the liquor selection. How is that?

Probably not at MR. B's. I would imagine it's coming with a side or two. I doubt I would order the steak there, though.

The steak is probably fine there and you can expect to pay a lot for steak in that type of restaurant. It's not what I would order there as others have said.

BBQ Shrimp
Gumbo
Shrimp and Grits, though I prefer a little more sauce than was served with it last time I had the dish.
Duck Spring Rolls
Flash Fried Oysters with the Hollandaise
Whatever fish they're serving is usually quite good.
Their burgers are very good. Ground filet and tasty.

The hot buttered pecan pie is outstanding.

Liquor is fine. The brandy milk punch is good. Once they made me a bananas foster shake for dessert. Really good.

I like Mr. B's but if you want a steak, Dickie Brennan's Steakhouse is right across the street. I like the seafood at Mr. B's.

We like the service at Mr. B’s - the food is always good. I have never ordered the steak though.

Ask for Alvin to be your waiter.

If they happen to have the deconstructed ravoli, ignnore that name and order it. It is served at lunch but it would be a good app for dinner portion wise for two. As said earlier, the service, drinks, gumbo, bbq shrimp, whatever the seafood special is and most everything else is great. I am sure the steaks are good too but it is not a steak destination to us. For a relaxing dinner, drinks at the Carousel bar and dinner at Mr B's is a great chill experience we think.

I may have hit it on a bad night, but Dickie Brennan’s steakhouse was quite disappointing.

The only time I have been to Mr B’s, I got the pork chop and it was great. Bread pudding was good also.
